To note also another relevant model. After one or other of the oil crises, there was a global agreement mandating that partiosting countries hold strategic stocks ( ours currently held offshore in USA).
If such arrangements are deemed necessary for security reasons, why not for health?

We have stacks and stacks of really brilliant people. From world experts in their fields with decades of experience, to young people with all sorts of ideas.
We need to nurture that.

Gates Foundation ( the second largest contributor to the WHO) does that with grants around the world. Meanwhile we have Mindaroo philanthropy.

You could argue for a long time whether philanthropy, commercial organisations, or government should be the primary funding source for scientific research. In some areas, it is clearly in Australia’s strategic interests to have a scientific capability, and the government should be funding that.

I would think, it would be the right thing to do to advise your employer. Even if someone hasn’t been into work yet. They may have symptoms or may not have any symptoms at all. That in itself is a valid reason not to go into work, to protect everyone. Until its known whether or not someone has the test and finds out whether they have the virus. Its simply the right thing to do for everyone’s sake.
Get tested ASAP and depending on the results on those tests, it will be clear then, if work is an option or not. The results of the tests will tell you what needs to happen next. Stay home and isolate or; be in hospital.
Now that sounds like a plan.
If only we had a government agency that was specially dedicated to this. Something like a “Commonwealth Serum Laboratory”.

Morrison should be pressured to explain why elimination isn’t a practical expectation.
It was only last week that the modelling for elimination vs suppression was put to the government with both showing as viable.

The following article details how a Daily Telegraph article written by SHARRI FARKING MARKSON has been used by the US govt and its Fox propaganda arm to effectively promote the lab theory, the blame theory, as a multi-national concept. The likelihood is that a US embassy figure leaked unsubstantiated docs to Markson.
We are being used, again, by our biggest ally and the consequences do not matter to them. This is very bad.

An aged care worker has now tested positive to coronavirus after coming into close contact with a worker from the Cedar Meats facility.
Libs appointed an American ‘entrepreneur’ to gut the CSIRO, ABC style, few years back. So many brilliant people forced to relocate their families often overseas, decades of irreplaceable intellectual capital gone, research that couldn’t be simply taken up, wasted. It’s a more ‘focused’ CSIRO now in our parts, where people compete to bring in the most money for the most commercial applications, collaboration is undermined and dull stuff like conservation and environmental studies are ever so unfashionable. Clever country bulls.hit.

on that day there were 68 new cases in Victoria so perhaps we just didn’t have the capability. If they said they hadn’t been at work then perhaps there was a line drawn through the case and they moved on.
The goal has always been to get the case numbers low enough so we have the ability to track them .

CSL are one of the biggest vaccine developers and manufacturer anywhere. The factory in Broadmeadows can churn out millions of vaccine doses, once such a vaccine is developed.
