And @beerme is definitely my new favourite poster.

Last week I was at a vegetable shop getting groceries, it was packed with boomers, most people were trying to keep space between everyone etc, but one lady 60+ proceeded to touch just about every cauliflower picking them up and then putting them back before selecting one.
I only noticed as was waiting for her to move to grab a cauliflower, and made sure i got one from the back, hoping she didnt reach back there.
Like what is even the difference between cauliflower, they were all in season.

Hmmm. They took down our basketball ring 4 weeks ago.

I’ve been saying that about Construction workers for 6 weeks. We’ve been told to not leave the house or see anyone whilst this whole industry has been swanning around seemingly immune. Hmmmm, wonder why they’ve been allowed to continue?

They should get some random testing done on those sites but we know it won’t happen because they might get shut down.

The US example is simply not relevant and you know why.

did they have the app installed?

Saw something like this while walking the dog the other day, 5 in a twin cab ute, shook my head in disbelief not even realizing I was doing it and proceeded to get verbally abused for a couple of minutes.

In my opinion Australian Scientists punch above their weight in the field of medical research. The problem is not the ability and expertise of these people it is the ability of others to scale up the process at a reasonable cost to meet the global demands in the event of a COVID pandemic. We are talking billions of doses.

And what big pharma is going to take the risk of investing in the billions necessary to make this happen? Maybe the US but you can bet the first 250+ million doses that come off the production line will be distributed internally. And where in the queue does Australia sit?

Interesting. What council? I’m in Darebin.

The US example shows what can happen in a ‘me first’ society with insufficent controls. We are a bit ‘me first’ and have got way ahead of ourselves. Time will tell if our controls are sufficient.

Yes research. Not manufacturing.

Yeah but they are CFMEU members and they are all brothers !!

Yeh I’ve noticed the fruit and vegetable fondlers at the supermarkets. But in their defence, the urge to squeeze avacados is hard to resist.

Construction has been open in every state. No government of either persuasion has even mentioned shutting it down. It has nothing to do with dictator dan protecting his union mates as you want to infer.

Can you use the stairs? Serious question. Less people better exercise.

You think they’ll extend it? I don’t think they will. There will be a small easing of restrictions. Probably against Dandrews better judgement but he’ll lose the public if he doesn’t.

I’m far from convinced with the spike in case numbers we’ve seen this week. I can absolutely see am extending of current restrictions beyond the 11th and would be surprised if we saw any action yet.

One of the Morrison children is going back to the private school premises in Sydney, a choice that was previously available. When the other one also goes back, Jenny can resume her day job.

I can and absolutely should. Mostly it hasn’t been an issue, overcrowding in lifts, until this last week and half which coincides with a ~30% increase in on site personnel.

It is disconcerting that there appears to be a disconnect between the researchers and big pharma. Researchers study these viruses using the very latest knowledge and technology in a laboratory. They look to defining a methodology that will produce the most effective vaccine in a small scale. Despite some collaboration between researchers, there are a number of centres that are running their own race to be “the first”.

However, (and maybe I’m wrong and they are already doing this) these people need to focus on creating a methodology for making a vaccine using existing, large scale manufacturing facilities and thereby reducing the startup costs significantly and, more importantly, the timeline for mass production of an effective vaccine.

I would also add that big pharma would be looking to having a global campaign of annual injections, just like Flu vaccine, to make a financial killing. Afterall it is big business.

Earlier in the week I got an invite to a mates birthday this weekend. They’re setting up the BBQ on the front lawn and gonna be passing snags and drinks to people in cars as they go past and wish happy birthday.

Even smart people are having trouble with the concept of essential travel.

I declined the invitation.
