COVID - 19 Things to do while we’re doing nothing

Lol…yeah…well I better not comment on that. But from my experience, that variety would be pride of Emerald.

Pride of ringwood is the CUB bred variety.

Kinda, and the smell. When I hop my homebrew, I stand there like a ■■■■ inhaling the aroma from the freshly opened bag. The missus looks at me like she finally realised what kind of idiot she married.

I did a Smash brew (single malt and single hop) of maris otter and galaxy hops. Utterly incredible beer. The wife loved it to unfortunately. Did not last long.

Hop shoots are delicious in cooking , a great delicacy in parts of Europe and quite expensive, on the menus for a very short time in season , but can be pickled.

^ Ironic as many consumers of hops also get pickled.

Since I’ve been stood down last week (for 6 weeks) due to working in an affected industry I’ve decided to come up with a list of must do’s now that I have all this free time

  1. Teach my 6 year old daughter to ride her bike

  2. Watch highlights of classic Bomber games with my daughter

  3. Reread some favourite books

  4. Spin more of these

  5. Pick this up again

Do the right thing please so we can all get back to work and stay safe

Quick question.
Not sure if this is the right thread.
I’m bored. And tempted to buy a playstation.
Is it worth getting PS4 or wait for PS5?

Depends on your situation. If you are the type of person that always needs the latest, then definitely wait, but I’d be surprised if there is a huge improvement from 4 to 5.

The PS4 is pretty decent and must be getting kind of cheap. Games are always pretty cheap pre owned.

I was looking at that exact question for my son. The conclusion I came to is that the PS5 will be considerably better. The new Unreal Engine 5 has been designed around the PS5 and will lift the level of PS5 games noticeably when it is released - probably toward the end of next year.

I looked at second hand PS4’s, and it’s hard to find a reasonable one under $400. You can get a second hand Xbox One in decent condition for around $250.

My son already has an Xbox One, so we don’t need to buy it. They’re still a pretty comparable games machine, and if it’s just to fill in time until the PS5 comes out, I think it’s better value.

Something for people to keep in mind is that the PS5 is also likely to be almost double the price of a Ps4 at launch. It will be backwards compatible with PS4 games however. Really depends on people’s budgets.

Agreed. Lots of options, and budget and preferences will lead to different choices. Xbox one and PS4 have many of the same games available for both, but they each have their own exclusive titles. Also, if you’re buying 10 games at $50-100 each, the cost of the unit becomes less of an issue, and the advantage of getting a PS4 would be that you could play those games on the PS5 when you upgrade.

If you want a budget gaming machine now, and you’re happy to just subscribe to the GamePass and maybe EA Games as well for a few months, there are quite a few games you can download and play on a second hand XBox One that will keep you busy for those few months.

on the weekend some friends and I trialed watching a movie while Zooming - it worked really well!

all of us have Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we came up with a list of possible movies, picked one, all logged into Zoom, cued up the movie so that we were all starting at the same spot at the same time, and watched the movie together, complete with popcorn!

Doing it again next weekend
