Cricket Part III

I like them all, it is a challenge for all bowlers and batsmen as they change to the various conditions. It is why it is called test cricket, you are tested on various grounds and conditions.

Did he?

I thought he was the man that came out to tell him basically “mate, the world knows what you’re doing” as a message from Lehmann.

Ah okay, must have misheard what Gilly said.

The ideal pitch gives something for everyone: eg seam and bounce early, flattens out for the bats on day 2 & 3, cracks up for the spinners day 4 & 5.

This one is flat and low, now. Hopefully it dries out and hardens out, to give something to the bowlers, and keeps going and cracks up late in the piece. But that session was dull.

Really? I found it interesting. Cummins had them jumping, so the reality was that Starc and Hazlewood started badly and didn’t use the pitch well.

It’s painful watching Bruce McAveney talk about cricket. Stick to the horses Bruce. Don’t pretend you are a cricket lover.

Nah, you can bag Bruce for many things, but he knows more about almost any sport, including cricket, than almost anyone.
He’s a freak.

Hearing him is much much worse.

He just sits there with a clipboard with stats. That doesn’t mean he knows anything. He loves horse racing and athletics. He’s got no idea how to commentate AFL anymore. I still don’t know what a “squeeze” is.

He follows every sport you’ve ever heard of, and some you haven’t.

I agree, his issue is commenting on something that doesn’t involve stats. Horse racing and athletics is all about stats and it is why he loves it. He can tell you every known stat around cricket, but he cannot commentate on the cricket itself, ball by ball. He gets away with it in the AFL because the others carry on and it is a quick action sport and he can just ask silly questions.

Hopefully he doesn’t pretend to be cricket’s biggest fan and trot out crap like “oh, I’m so privileged to be here to witness this special moment in history”

LOL

Many valid criticisms of Bruce.
But that is absolutely not one.
He’s a tragic sports nerd. He still subscribes to multiple newspapers every day, and reads every score and sports story.

I’m sorry, but you’re wrong. He is exactly as he appears.

But he’s still painful as fk to listen to.

And why have so many, ( & all the frontrunners) in the Syd 2 Hob have black sails this year?

Oh absolutely. And he’s too slow to do play by play in the footy. Still don’t mind him doing the central/presenter.

But he’s 100% definitely not faking it or pretending. He fucken loves it.

Corsairs.

He is NOT a big cricket fan. I’ve never heard him mention cricket before 7 got the gig. He’s just being a professional and accumulating a knowledge of stats. He’s a great “researcher of sport”. You can’t attend the horse racing, the athletics and cricket at the same time. If he pretends to love cricket he’s pretending for the camera. He loves horse racing and athletics. They give him a stats boner.

One of the SA blokes was lost at sea in the around the world race earlier this year

And I have heard him mention it.
