Cricket - The Ashes Tour, 2019

Was very scared to wake up and see the score thinking we’d collapse badly. Which we did.

But wowee that is fkn amazing by Smith and the two tail enders. Put on 88 for 9th wicket and 74 for 10th wicket (Lyon only with 12 of!)

England must be fkn bleeding given they should have rolled us for 120-150 less than we got.

Here’s hoping bowlers can get job done now

That’s one of the greatest innings of all time. Smith hasn’t payed test cricket for almost 18 months, has been stripped of the captaincy, the team is in all sorts of ■■■■ and he manages to get 144 leading us from 8/120 to 284.

Amazing

Near enough son,… near enough.

And the turds even booed his Century.

What an incredible Innings, … well done to Sidz & Gazza for hanging around as they did.

Also,… lesson learnt. Set the DVR running before bed if you want to see a spoiler free replay in the Morning…

Not on Kayo/Fox, so no replay of the day there, and Nein doesn’t have any either,… just highlights.

Weird that it’s just simply unavailable. If 9 isn’t going to have a replay on their stream site, … why not let Kayo provide one and bring in some more dollars rather than just not have it available at all??

Weird.

Steve Smith is more than a man, is he a machine?

They all change position so often these days, not like the old days.

To be fair, 3 guys are returning from 15 months out of the Test side, and 1 guy from nearly 2 full years out.

A bit of rust perhaps not surprising.

As Bomber fans I’m not sure why everyones up in arms over the booing. Our club and supporters love a good booing session - and we are bl00dy good at it… If it was England players in the same boat as our Sandpaper club I’d be up for booing them.

How good is this photo?

It’s just astonishing he wasn’t even 50 yet when Siddle got in at 9th wicket.

Goes on to make 144

That is one of the more amazing 100s that I’ve ever seen.
The circumstances and the odds against him were extreme.
Just an extraordinary innings. The guy is a freak

There are thirteen players and two umpires on the field at any one time. There are two batsmen (pretty easy to spot and tell apart generally), the umpires wear black pants and stand in the same spots, a wicket-keeper (duh!) and the guy bowling. Joe Root fields at first slip, Ali has a beard, Stokes has red hair and tatts, Broad is a tall git, etc. It’s not that hard.

Numbers on ODI/T20 tops? Fine. Whatever.

Numbers on test whites. Looks ■■■■ and really serves no effective purpose. I get it for Shield/County cricket where people don’t necessarily know the players, but test cricket? Nup.

It just makes it look like a state game.

Ordinary.

Smith what an absolute champion! Siddle batted very well too, hopefully can show it where it counts with the ball.

I see normal service has resumed with the team relying on Smith and a few tailender cameos to get us a competitive score, it’s like nothing has changed since he’s been gone!

Lyon doing the Jim Higgs role (with Doug Walters), 1980(??)

We boo’d the hell out of Broad all summer in Aus cause he didn’t walk.

We boo the bejesus out of Broad etc, but get sniffy when Smith & Warner get some back. We’re not really good when hard-nose tactics come back our way, are we? Particularly from Pom crowds, who’ve historically been of the MCC-style, “I say, jolly good shot old chap” variety.

Bring it on, I say. Adds some spice to the series. If Smith cops more than his fair share, well bugger it… it probably just means he’s made a fair few runs.
