Culture & Coaching - The Age 13/2 Jake Niall

I hadn’t heard there was an extra game scheduled for us on that visit. No wonder they will get pumped backing up in Joondalup after the scheduled game in Lathlain.

lathlain, Joondalup, North of the river. same sh*t area on a perth February day

Just to be clear, are you telling him to keep drinking tonight?

Commercially the article is not inappropriate at this time of the year.
Reasonable without offering much insight. Says something, without saying much. A bit like most of my own commentary.

Jake doesn’t pretend to know anything more than others & isn’t pumping us up.

We have reasons to be optimistic, but equally reasons to be pessimistic.

Personally not expecting a premiership, mid tabling with wins against traditional foes would be heart warming in the depths of a cold Melb winter is all that I expect

statistics should only be used in times of serious environmental political debate

As WOB says, wait until after game 3 and then measure the mood in here.

Will you measure the mood in alcohol units?

A proof rating for Blitz?

The funny thing is that if the umpire applied the rules correctly against Sydney we would have been well within the top 8. Except that’s only on games won. If the ladder was sorted on percentage we would have finished 13th.

But … perhaps that shows that we know how to get the win, which is good. Maybe with a new coaching set up we’ll be able to stop 1-2 more goals a game and score 1-2 more goals a game which would be huge.

I get the emotional response and I agree that our finals performances have been bad.
It seems we are incapable of going up a step in commitment to the contest in finals. IMO,

However, using your reasoning, last year, neither Brisbane nor Western Bulldogs deserved to be in the 8, ( easy draw, drubbed in the finals) so, what you are effectively saying is 3 out of 8 clubs did not deserve to be there, in spite of the fact that they stopped 3 other clubs ( who equally did not deserve to be there) from being in the 8

The way the finals are structured is that you barely have to win 50% of matches played to qualify. The fault is with the system, which is designed to maximise revenue for the AFL.

Surely not! The AwFul wouldn’t put money ahead of everything else would it?

Our best footy under Woosh was 2nd half of 2018, had we made the finals that year we could’ve done something, we were fit and in form.

Richmond are flattered by 18.4 to 8.17.

I remember that game and Richmond were definitely better, but typically it would be about 14.8 to 10.15, or better for Brisbane.

Yeah I reckon Brisbane were on top in the first half but did not create scoreboard pressure.

Martin got on top in the third and Brisbane dropped their bundle. But the first half was a cracking game and Brissy took it up to them.

Lions should’ve been 6 goals clear at half time, they dominated.

Also had Tom Hawkins not been a ■■■■■■■■ and played that prelim Geelong beat Richmond with how much ball the Cats had forward in that 1st half.

Richmond while very good had luck on their side as well.

Yep I reckon the Cats would have won if Hawkins played

The importance of a quality big contested marking forward shown as vital in finals.

Tom Lynch had a ripper prelim IIRC also.

Is there a depression index

Yeah but our mantra over the years is great win followed by earth returning loss.

We just don’t have it going on upstairs.
