Dan Richardson - joining the mass exodus

Remember the days when we used to have the cream of the crop clamouring for a chance to be part of Essendon?
Nope, I can’t either… it’s been Essington for too long…

… after a preliminary phonecall with X…

Mahoney has been the GM of Football Operations at Melbourne for 7 years.

In that time Melbourne have finished 17th, 13th, 11th, 9th, 5th, 17th & 9th.

So we might get one good year of finals with him in charge. GET EXCITED!!!

Do we actually really want him? Or do we just think he’s gettable now that he’s been demoted & is perhaps a little disgruntled. Sounds like we might just be going for convenience as opposed to pin pointing someone we really want & going hard for them. If you’re going to “raid” a club for their Footy Boss, why does it have to be Melbourne?

And someone that hasn’t got the stones to put X in his place when he pokes his nose in the footy department.

What is the role of the Football Manager in salary caps for players? Walsh seems to have taken the fall at Collingwood.

Plenty of experts on the credentials and merit of Football Manager candidates here on Blitz - you should be able to get a well-informed answer very soon :slightly_smiling_face:

Nah, I reckon Walshy was always planning to retire this year. In fact, I think he stayed on this year only because of the dramas with COVID. He must be in his mid to late sixties, and he was dragged back to Collingwood by Eddie when Graeme Allen screwed up. He has nothing left to prove.

settle down Mahoney lover

Bit different when the immediate replacement makes a huge positive impact.

Were Dees any better (or worse) this year than last year?

If we are going to get a crap performer, we may as well do it properly.

Mahoney has been appointed

Great news! Fantastic news!

I have no idea if this guy is any good.

Must be terrible.

Lol another individual from a failed program.

Makes sense to have moved Richardson on to have secured the services of such a heavy hitter.

There goes my bet on Ben Cousins getting the gig.

Don’t know the guy, but I have to agree with Saucy here. What have we seen from his tenure at Melbourne that has convinced us?
