Dan Richardson - joining the mass exodus

And surprise, as expected, no matter who ended up in the role, the blitzers would carry on like their first born child was taken from them right away. hahahahahahahaha.

Didn’t he recently get demoted? This feels very Dan Richardson 2.0 but without the premierships.

Not true. Think of something original.

It’s almost exactly the same thing.

lol.

Interesting slant on it. You can only appoint someone from a list of people you interview for the role. Obviously, out of the people who we interviewed Mahoney presented the best and was what we were looking for.

None of us have seen their interviews, nor really understand their abilities to fulfil the role. We can all have wishlist (Balme for example) but unless we are fully involved we don’t really know.

As for your suggestion of Lyon: nah, this is guy who has sexual misconduct complaints against him, not really the sort of resume you want for a senior administrative role. Nor do you really know whether his skill set works in that role.

Funny, Dan Richardson had done that too, at a way more successful club…

hear hear.

it is just the Mathew Knights appointment all over again

If they are shy, they won’t tell Xavier to but out.

Classic hand-picked decision.
So far we’ve established
Auld removed himself at the last minute
Scott declined the role

So at best, Mahoney was our 3rd choice. Perhaps the club can look at that and ask why people preferred to not come to us, you know, “the big club”.

So had Neil Balme at the Pies, they demoted him so he moved to the Cats and found success.

He has done nothing in 7 years at Melbourne.

He is being replaced by Alan Richardson.

It’s a bottom of the barrel appointment.

Fmd.

mental backflips already by some to see this as a positive appointment.

Herald Sun reported that we approached Steven Trigg about the job. So it could’ve been worse.

Be interested to know what he brings to the role that Richardson couldn’t / wouldn’t.

Because on the surface it is difficult to see anything other than a guy who has just been moved out of his role after overseeing just about the only football program to rival Essendon’s lack of success.

I mean, it is better than Auld. But that is such a low bar it is not even worth discussing.

I was responding to someones comment saying that ‘at least he has GM experience and has worked in an AFL club before’. It’s funny because that’s Dan Richardson.

I love this. Essendon sack Richardson and say that they want someone with more experience. Josh Mahoney has been GM of Melbourne since 2013 - the exact same year Richardson became GM of Richmond. What a load of bullocks.

Well you are entitled to hold that viewpoint.

My assumption is that you would have held that viewpoint regardless of who they had appointed because your posts tend towards the negative about anything the club does. Understandable considering we haven’t achieved anything since Noah was a little boy. I don’t trust most of what X says and does these days, but I will cut Mahoney some slack and wish him the best in helping us turn things around and not banking on him failing as my default position.

The club said they wanted an experienced and senior person. No where did they say they wanted someone ‘more’ experienced then Dan.

pray tell, what is remotely exciting or encouraging about this appointment?
