Darts: Throwing the Arrows… and Occasionally Hitting the Target

So are you playing out in the Yarra league? Or around Knox?

I play in the eastern suburbs combined club darts league which is based out of knox and surrounding areas, and also the mountain district darts Assocation, which is out of dandenong

Aha, reckon we’d have a few teams who cross over leagues. We’ve got a couple (I think) who play out of Knox league and one of the guys in my team plays out of Dandy on a Friday night.

What’s your best leg? I’ve had a 21 darter.
I’ve had chances at 17 darts but missed the double obviously.

I play a dart bot on Dart Counter and it’s set to a 45 average. I am about square with it at the minute.

Ill check later when I finished work but dont think Ive got a 21 dart leg before. My average is only mid- high 30’s, I’m way too inconsistent with hitting 1’s and 5’s

We joke about getting 26 tattoo’d on our wrist as that’s our most common score.

I practice every other night by throwing 100 darts at 20. I hit about 55%-60% and average around 5-6 triples.

I just hit a 21 darter two weeks ago in comp which I was stoked with.

Had a potential 18 end up as a 33 last week because of the old “bust” on double 1.

I play the dartbot on 45 too. Generally if you match the scoring you’ve got 9 darts to check out which is about par with me.

Edit: my daily routine is now 3 darts at each double when I’m warm, and seeing how many I hit. My best so far (inc the bull) is 12/63 at just under 20%.

20% is damn good going.

If only that was the expectation and not the exception

‘Arrers’. Used to be pretty good many many moons ago. First foreman when I first started work got into it and I had to play him every lunchtime in any pub where we were working until the local best player turned up. He went onto winning the News of the World which was the biggest comp at the time. Then went onto making a fortune playing the game while I carried on shoveling concrete😀.
Still speak to him occasionally and I think I get a mention in his second book coming out because the ghost author cut me from his first.

So who was he? I mean I’ve got my suspicions when you say “fortune” but just wanna hear it.

I thought this was a metaphor for our forward line entry strategy.

Carry on,

Not quite who I was thinking of but bet he could throw a dart, nonetheless! How cool though, to be mentioned in an autobiography about a former world champ!!

Further investigation of this photo tells me they’re John Part Loxley’s!

They look like a natural tungsten version of my Designa Dark Thunders (which are covered in black paint)

You might be right but I’ll have to check when I get home.

The maple on the barrel was a give away :joy:

I legit had never noticed.

Darts I use are the Simon Whitlock set (22g)
Was on a lighter set but was told at Dartworld to go with something heavier so I can have more control when throwing

Don’t have a great set up, this was the only spot in the garage where we could put the board , it’s above the bench and I have to use a step whengetting them out of the board

We have a shed but there’s not enough room

Best leg is 26 darts, I play against the Russ bray app and find that we often get stuck on an endless loop of double 1 where neither of us can finish, can take well over 70 darts sometimes

Potential there to pimp out that space though!

I tried the whitlocks. Couldn’t throw them for ■■■■. Interestingly, my Target’s have a really slight scallop shape but just couldn’t get used to the grip.

Have you tried going even heavier? To a 24g?

I tried a 22g (my Red Dragon’s) but when I’m off, I’m way off comparatively speaking to my 24s.
