As others have said, rightly or wrongly this is poor form by Barham, if true. He has had a few howlers so far. Time will tell if he is the right person for the job. Having said that, this has the stinky smell of the AFL all over it imo.

I agree. You simply can’t trust journalists, especially if they’re pushing a line. I am involved in something at the moment and we had an email last night from a journo who said he had a certain fact from “multiple sources” and proceeded to ask us a series of questions based on that fact.

The problem was that the “fact” was just plain 100% wrong, and he couldn’t have “had it from multiple sources”, because there weren’t multiple sources for him to get it from.

That’s the point. No-one was leaking. There were a limited number of people who knew the facts. All of them knew that the “fact” from “multiple sources” was simply not true. So either one or more of them were simply lying, which I do not believe, or the journalist was either making it up, or citing “multiple sources” who he knew had no knowledge of the facts.
