David Barham - Our new Board Overlord

It’d be a laugh if Barham missed out on re-election and Ms Verner Green got back alongside Solly instead. But don’t worry about it - in that case, Barham would just be made another Board appointee instead.

Whoever loses of the 3 is going to be appointed Perce. Its basically guaranteed

Is there anything in the Constitution to disbar an elected Board member from being appointed?
I do recall that Tanner had to go to election after his maximum two terms as an appointee expired.

There’s a max term limit on appointed board members. MVG was originally an appointed director.

You’d honestly hope they’d realise they haven’t been at all effective and resign en masse.

Not holding my breath.

What a disappointing sentence.
Sums it up, though.

Thanks Catherine!
IIRC, that was also the case with Lindsay Tanner, standing for election after his terms as an appointee expired.
Do you know the situation whether the rules would allow for an elected Board member to be appointed, as the alternative to standing for re-election?

It is most definitely doable, but if they have put their name in for re-election it would likely be too late to move them to an appointed seat.

Also the 4 term limit still applies.

Thanks again,

We should have a conclave and actually smoke out the board, reelect the lot with people who want a football team to win a premiership and move back to windy hill.

Another payout by Barham and co. Keep raising those member prices legend.

That’s exactly why my memberships have risen 34% over two years

The club needs to cop it between the eyes at the next AGM. We are right up there as one of the most dysfunctional clubs in Australian sport currently

How are you going to develop Windy Hill well enough to match what we have at Tullamarine?
When we left, we had an AFL and VFL team facilities. We now have to add AFLW and VFLW as well. In a smaller gymnasium. With less car parking for workers & players.
How long will it take to bring it up to standard?
What are the costs?
Who is subsidising that cost because no club is capable of funding such a large project without Government handouts?
What are the Moonee Valley Valley Council issues that can delay the issue?

Windy Hill has its place, but as a full time AFL sports training facility, it just doesn’t have the space. And that’s assuming we can take over all the surrounding spaces (which is a barrier in itself).

Winning a premiership?
I’d be surprised the people on the board don’t want to win a premiership.
Anyone who goes there aspires to win a premiership.
It’s putting the processes and actions in place to allow it to happen which is difficult to do.

You could build a very nice boutique stadium here if you knock every thing else down. Probably a lazy $750 million would make it work.

We are already using it as a ‘boutique’ stadium for AFLW purposes. Perfectly fine for VFL and VFLW. It’s far too small for anything for our AFL team.
But ignoring that.

Carparking would be an absolute nightmare, but let’s ignore that too.

Who is paying for it?
Who will run it?
How do we train from there?

Car parking underneath, tram and train close by.

Never said we would train there and it would have a roof, seat 60000 and Elon Musk would pay for it all.

The last day for Board nominations was yesterday so there should be an announcement about who is running today.

Then it’s unlikely to occur.
The amount of traffic that a 60k stadium would attract will surely be received perfectly well with the residents around there.
Will do well for businesses around there though.

We used to live across the road in Napier Street, I had no problem with any event at Windy Hill, though seeing I was drunk at most footy games it may not count.

Bottom line : they should have sorted the Windy Hill situation while Dan the EFC member was still Premier.
