I’m not going to go all out on, men do better, to have people protective of abhorrent other ‘cultural differences.’

I don’t think you’re wrong, but I don’t think you’re right either. I think it’s too interlinked with too many other things.

Plus, if you made alcohol and gambling illegal tomorrow, it wouldn’t stop people drinking and gambling. Just push it underground. Or, at best, push it to some other substance, some other pasttime. The risky behaviours wouldn’t stop, they’d just change.

Too complex a problem to just be any one thing.

Gambling heavily restricted- SP bookies, backstreet casinos

Add in prostitution, shylocking

As for the free speech thing, there’s nothing wrong with consequences for saying lousy things. What those consequences are and who they come from is the issue. Social consequence are perfectly fine.

The issue is when there is no consequence.
When…sigh sorry to trigger some people here, but when hate speech is accepted then hate actions are accepted.

What does she expect?

At the risk of repeating myself, I am far more interested in the perpetual perpetrators than the victims.
Male on male violence is probably as under-reported now as…well, choose your poison.
It certainly used to go back to primary school.
