I bit longer from Tasmania

My memory from yesterday was that most of our shots/goals were from areas i50 that you want to be kicking from. I don’t recall wide angle banana 50 metre bombs featuring much. Which I liked. Get your chance from 20-30 direct in front and you will likely kick more goals. Not sure if it’s sustainable from us given our forward entry recent history but there’s much water to go under that bridge

Well that game was just a delight!

Many highlights, but for me, Draper’s demolition job on the three Cat’s defenders took the cake. For far too long we’ve been bullied by their bigger bodies.

Sammy ‘crunched’ the Cats a few times last night, and overall it felt that the tide had finally turned and no longer would the Cats strut around without a care.

A quicker, more dynamic and physically dangerous squad. Good!

Probably a similar mass. Body composition? big change!!

Feel for him. Tough going from an elite program where you’re 125kg of muscle to no program at all.

I agree with the observation about our players looking like their bodies can compete with Geelongs. They waltzed through a few tackles last night but it was nowhere near as noticeable as it normally is.

They are right about Draper, he looks very very fit and his kicking style continues to improve. Even Caddy looks to me like his kicking technique has changed a bit. Having these to big blokes in the forward line going hard at the ball will be saomething to watch,

Not enough being said about Reid’s 55m pass from the last line to Durham which set up Caddy’s first goal.

What a thing of beauty

Great post.

He’s been increasingly tentative since the bye last season. I’m not sure what’s the issue, but his lack of physicality has been costing us. I counted a few moments yesterday where he cost us with an unwillingness to absorb contact.

I hope this is temporary because he’s a fine player and fills a big need for us.

Saying McGrath was worse than Duursma shows nothing either than 0 IQ or bias. Take your pick.

That’s a very obtuse way to look at it, could the same parameters not be applied to you, for simply thinking the opposite ?

No, no they could not.

I guess that shows your 0 IQ. I’d have gone with bias, but then you’d require an iq higher than 0 for that.

C’mon DKP.
Duursma had an absolute shocker.
McGrath had a couple of bad moments, but an overall serviceable-good game.

Shiel was pretty good also, despite that 1 very poor kick to the forward pocket left of screen to basically 2 Geelong players.

I understand why our senior players get some hate.
They can frustrate at times.
Geez… we’re over the top with criticism though.

McGrath was pretty good I thought all night. One misjudged bounce of the ball and Stengle takes advantage is obviously enough for people to say he was garbage. This is just their bias being exposed. Duursma’s disposals were ordinary but I wouldn’t be dropping him from the best 22 because pretty much every other part of his game was okay. We all know what he’s capable of; as do the coaches. Both of these players will be in the best 22 come round 0 (barring mishaps…) so everyone will have to like it!

For me, there’s too much of McGrath getting to the ball first and then toe-poking to a position where only his opponent can get it…I think they got 2 or 3 goals like that.

 Your not wrong

Reckon I’ve been pretty fair with my thoughts on Hobbs’ strengths and weaknesses.
I understand he has his fans in here though.

I assume that’s what you’re referring to.

Last season I felt Brad found our best midfield combination for quite some time in Merrett/Durham/Caldwell, so I was incredibly skeptical of Durham shifting forward.

However, if it frees up a spot for Tsatas in the middle then, based on yesterday’s game from both players, it’s more than a worthwhile pursuit. Both were excellent.
