I toyed with the idea of catching the train up for this game, but l doubt now that l will bother. Never been to the Western Oval, and it doesn’t hold much attraction for me. Go Bombers!

The Western Oval is an easy walk from the station. Its not too bad. The Hangar is a shocker by train.

If the Dogs have their top mids in, its going to be a reality check for us. The Dogs will go all out in the first half, then play the kids. Isnt that how you run practice games?

In days gone it was from boyhood memory a windswept and rainy joint to visit. Not a ground to look forward to.

I went twice. Once to random Fitzroy vs Bin Chickens game and the one we had Fitzroy scoreless at HT.

Given that your namesake had a decidedly poor record at the Western Oval (except 1965 when he tallied 33 possessions and a goal) I can perfectly understand why you would stay away from this ground! :joy:

I live just around the corner, go running there often and have been to a few VFL and AFLW games. They’ve recently finished a massive refit, it’s a good facility now and is a really nice place to watch a game of footy, in my opinion. Definitely worth checking out.

I remember watching replays there, when the outer wing was reduced to a long, shallow swimming pool.

It never was back when it was an active ground.

We won’t do ok.

Because if we don’t do ok, it will just prove that preseason has been another failure and playing scratch matches against ourselves is a waste of time. And that’s not ok

But if we do do ok, it will only be because the WB have their reserves team in and didn’t try. So that won’t be ok either.

So as someone who has not even taken the slightest interest in our preseason as I have accepted we will always suck.

How are we looking so far? And is the game worth watching?
