Or….. now hear me out.

We play Cox as a Key Forward.

I agree there will be a clean out of forwards for sure. As soon as Walter news came in… was kind of evident. Right now only May and Caddy are locks

Correct

That highlights our inability to spot or grow talent

The trick is to see potential and take calculated risks. Won’t always work. Tsatsas for example. A very high pick and we thought we could fix his kicking. (He was overrated by the entire AFL industry and it was our ‘good’ fortune he fell to us).

DAmbrossio was worthy of his requested 2 year deal. He had shown enough in senior games to take a very small risk given also that his direct position competitor was Heppell who was set to retire!!

Voss won a b&f in the magoos. That was enough to keep him and work him. The fact both those players were let go in favour of those that remained (Ham, Davey x 2, Menzies, Weideman et al) beggars belief. That’s not hindsight. That’s basic footballer identification.

I think McKay makes more sense and has shown more when offered the spot. Compliments Caddy more too.(and May when he eventually returns)

In my head McKay is a key forward or a VFL player. And 2MP should probably take his spot on return. As wright is a better kick for goal and a better ruck option.

If Wright comes back, I’m playing him number 1 ruck and Bryan off the bench.

McKay stays forward until Ridley is injured.

I’d rather play a player down than have Gresham in the team.

Wouldn’t be immolating a dwarf too much at all this week.

Putting our prongs in tubes and photographing them beautifully at the minute.

Why in the name of Jesus H Christ did Cox get dropped after his best game in 5 years, and Harry Jones gets the nod on the back of a sub 10 disposal count the week before?

That’s BDB-level dumb team selection. I see Coxy pulled down 9 marks and kicked 2 goals in the ressies. Has to come into the team for Jones.

I would bring Tsatas back in, but what’s the point? He’s obviously out the door come trade period. Had 33 disposals and 11 clearances in the twos on the weekend.

Gresham kicked three, but for the love of God, please do not drop Huss for Gresham.

Perkins should be dropped, but who takes his place - not bloody Gresham, please. I’d rather keep Perko in to increase any trade value he may have left (maybe a third round pick?)

My level of care factor is at an all time low. Does anything matter at this point other than getting pick 1, and getting a competent coaching setup for next year?

The only other thing is trying to make sure none of our best young players get significant inju…..

Actually I won’t say it.

Please just give me one of either parish or Caldwell out. Neither should be in the team, please just drop one of them

And punt jones into the sun while your at it

Drop Perkins into the deepest part of the ocean

I’m looking forward to parish, Merrett and Setterfield at the last centre bounce with 40 seconds to go when we turn to the trusted and accomplished team of seniors to drag us over the line to a 47 point loss

Jones stayed in because they want to trial as a 3rd tall defender; which they did.

Cox has been tried in that role multiple times previously and looked terrible each time.

I agree, cox should not have been dropped given his gamer last week on the wing.

I watched the VFL game and Cox was clearly BoG as a tall, mobile forward. He deserves a promotion to a similar role this week against the Saints.

Jones stays in if they want a 3rd tall defender but not for any other reason.

I’ll take it!

I’d drop McKay, he is too immobile & lacks some grunt, unfortunately for him & us the day of his type of player has passed. Cox to replace him up forward.

We need to have more movement up forward. Nyugen played a good game in the VFL, and is very active, he is still learning, but, I’d like to see him with Kako & El Achter up forward. Perkins to make way.

Similarly with the midfield, Caldwell, Sharp, Setterfield & Parish are too slow. At least one has to make way and that most certainly should not be Sharp. Maybe Caldwell for El Houli (Artemis) not like for like but fills a need.

We need forward movement out of the backline, McGrath tried, but, rest seemed to want to go sideways or backwards. Hopefully Roberts will be fit & then add one of El Houli or Artemis and give them a license to run. Out Jones in Roberts or one of El Houli or Artemis.

These changes would bring us a lot more leg speed and give us some opportunity to move the ball forward quickly giving the forwards more chances.
