Drinking Spirits

Came close to that last year at a work function on a bottle of Jack Daniels. Had less than 100ml in the bottle by the end of the night.

I don’t judge people by what they drink. Ever.

… unless you drunk Bundy, you absolutely irredeemable bogan

You could always buy the bottle and send it over. Then they wouldn’t care about the water quite so much

This stuff is better than it should be, but there’s plenty better than it.

Traditional different stills involved as well. You’d generally only use a Cognac or Armagnac still for those spirits. They’re similar to whisky stills but the low wines are pre heated in a holding vessel that the Lyne arm runs through, which also helps to cool the vapour and reduce the load on the product condenser.

Yep, 16 years old, managed to get a bottle for a party & spent most of the night calling ralph on the big white phone. Have not gone near it since.

My other aversion is Black Sambuca. Went to a promo night where a packed bar were all drinking the stuff for free. I drank enough of it to get a drunkish but it ended up everywhere - spills on my jacket, shoes, jeans & its just so sticky & sickly. I just can’t stand the smell of it now & I think I ended up throwing away my suede jacket with the stains still on it. That coat is due to come back into fashion soon.

Hmm.

Arette is another Awesome reposado. That ones hard to find. And unsure on price.

Olmeca is ok. But the problem with 40 to 50 dollar bottles is that they are usually the 15USD dollar a bottle stuff they pop in cheap cocktails in california.

Def try a few. Select a couple in that 50 dollar price point at a bar first. Would hate to steer you towarda rocket fuel.

Nicks at Doncaster has Olmeca resposado at 55 a bottle.

That would be my cheap pick.

Stretch to Arette and you will thank me later though.(if you drink neat or on the rocks… Their suave resposado is heaven). Nicks stock em too.

That goes someway towards explaining some of your recent contributions.

Drink responsibly. You particularly.

One of my experiences as father of teenage boys (now, many years later, quite responsible adults) involved returning from a night out with my wife (just movies and dinner) to find that our house had been the site of an impromptu party at which had been consumed (among many other things) something called butterscotch schnapps. A half-full bottle had apparently been overlooked in the hasty clear-out when we returned. Out of curiosity I smelt it and couldn’t believe that anything could possibly be so sickly sweet. So I tasted it and found that yes, it really was as disgusting as it smelt. I spat out the mouthful and poured the rest of the bottle down the sink.

The common denominator of those perversions of the drink-maker’s craft that are drunk by kids is that they’re sweet. So sweet that it doesn’t taste of anything but sugar. For a kid, that makes them easy to drink.

Ha! Not you. You’ve been in good form. I was referring to Bloodstained Grandma.

We went through a schnapps, and Beer chasers phase for a short while back in my 20’s, … Peach was the go IIRC, …

I have 1 who is mere months off being a teenager & another younger boy so I have those years to look forward to. I have always had a pretty well stocked bar so I’m assuming its only a matter of time before some stuff starts to go missing. I just hope they aren’t stupid enough to swipe any of the top shelf stuff. I’ve got some 20+ year old reds under the house as well (I very very rarely drink wine) so again I hope they don’t think the dust means I’ve forgotten about them.

Just add some bailey’s Irish cream and you have cowboys

Yum

I used to have to work at the Oktoberfest at the Melbourne Showgrounds in the 90’s. Schnapps makes a fine breakfast. Or it did then.
