Yep, 16 years old, managed to get a bottle for a party & spent most of the night calling ralph on the big white phone. Have not gone near it since.
My other aversion is Black Sambuca. Went to a promo night where a packed bar were all drinking the stuff for free. I drank enough of it to get a drunkish but it ended up everywhere - spills on my jacket, shoes, jeans & its just so sticky & sickly. I just can’t stand the smell of it now & I think I ended up throwing away my suede jacket with the stains still on it. That coat is due to come back into fashion soon.
I did the same on Southern Comfort, I had a 375 ml bottle and my friends had a six pack of beer each, we all thought that’s about the same. I was 16 years old drank it before a party two blocks up the road, I only made it half way and spent the night throwing up in the gutter.
Never again have I drank it and the smell still turns my stomach.
It’s amazing how many people have this story.
I used to drink a 200ml flask straight (I had no concept of adding a mixer to drinks at the time, poorly educated), and one New Years Eve drank a 375ml very quickly, chilled to go down easier.
That was like an out of body experience.
Now about once every five or ten years someone gives me a Southern and Coke instead of bourbon and coke and I very nearly spew on the spot after one sip.

Have you had the Balvenie Carribean Cask? That’s one of my faves.
No I haven’t. I did see it on the shelf last time though. Thanks for the tip mate. I will need to buy another bottle soon.

This is unbelievably delicious.
I was a little put off by how sweet it is at first, but oh my golly gosh…
Do yourself a favour.

yep - hard liquor is needed after that game.
I resorted to it at ¾ time. I knew what was coming up. A glass of that Woodforde bourbon that Reboot posted a while ago. On ice.

And while we’re on the subject, like a shaving set, get yourself one. good. solid. thick base. whiskey tumbler.
Don’t buy two.
Make it yours.

Heathens.
Grab yourself a large glass and pack it with ice. Add a shot or two of black sambuca and top with lemonade. Chuck in a lime wedge if you’re daring. Let it sit until the ice has melted a little and the sucker is nice and cold, then sip away. Delicious, and so refreshing on a hot day.
And SoCo mules (that’s SoCo, dry ginger ale and fresh lime for those who may not know) is a fantastic drink.

How good are old fashioned’s?
I can’t go past one if I see it on a menu.
On a side note, a couple of mates have been raving about Redbreast 12yo Irish Whiskey. Anyone sampled?

The Negroni has been the mixed drink of choice in our household. Just never gets old. bitter, sweet, boozy, add a little soda if you want it long.

I’ve got one of these unopened and has been sitting around for ages.
Chivas 12 is my basic staple scotch.
Is this any good?

Yep. You can really balance it to suit your mood too. For example, after the game on Friday night i doubled the gin.
