Dumb Questions Amnesty

There were a number of boys at my High School who later came out as gay, years later.

Actually only heard of it when two of them died with AIDS, and in one case his parents would not attend the funeral. All our group of high school friend went to the funeral of the other bloke.

This really is the crux of my question.
It sounds like you’re both saying you did know, and that you didn’t know.

I’m asking boomers because I was eight.
You make the point that ‘poofters’ were persona non grata, and yet this band along with Kiss (and I definitely remember pushback against them because of Satanism) were fine.

It just seems extremely odd to me, if parents knew that they’d be fine with their children getting very heavily into a band that…were…supposedly very not okay.

I am saying for those who knew that it did not matter. In the 1980s, we had no gay friends but were not homophobic. Now have many gay friends.

1980 was a very long time ago, and some things have changed for the better. Sadly many have not.

I’m not attacking or judging.
I’m just confused about it.

Parents are always concerned about their children getting into whatever the music of the day is. That’s the job of parents. And kids. And musicians of the day.

If a guy wears track suit pants out in public, are they giving up on life?

nah

they’ve reached a level of self-actualisation many of us can only dream about

Depends if they are an athlete or a 140kg slob

Looks down to see what strides I’m wearing?

Slacks

Phew!

Depends on the accompanying footwear.

Decent pair of runners - I’d give it a pass.

Ugg boots / moccasins / thongs with socks - fail.

Definitely not. They have in fact mastered life. Being comfortable and not giving a ■■■■ what other people think.

What, are they supposed to put on a suit before going out to do the groceries or watch the kids doing sport?!

Unless forced, I live in them at this time of year.

Can someone post in the wood thread so I can post something new? Ta.

Hiya, after watching the news tonight, a conspiracy theorist stated that the murder of 2 VicPol officers was a false flag event. What the f*** does that mean? Seriously, I can’t work it out.

Teh gubmint killed the cops so they can go after all of the sovereign citizens.

Ok , my wife is having surgery a week before the GF and will be in a wheelchair for a month or so, she is a club member of a competing finals team, if they make it to the GF can she request an accessible seat? IS there a criteria that needs to be met? TIA

Yeah from memory the AFL has a special phone number for those accessible seats (and support person ‘wink’) that you see at the end of the aisle.

No doubt you’d have to have some kind of certificate and register with them, otherwise nuffies would be booking them.
