Ok I have a dumb question… not finding much anywhere but hey haven’t looked overly hard
Round 1 vs hawthorn .. are tickets not on sale yet or have they sold out ? Just wondering.. I’m wanting to go and doubt my 8 game membership will get me in (surely fully ticketed)
I got an email from my GP’s office asking to fix my account. I fixed it two weeks ago and paid via transfer. They’re asking for proof of payment. This is something they can easily see for themselves. So which is it?
I’m nine days late to this conversation but I’ve always been of the opinion that if soccer was deeply, and I mean DEEPLY ingrained into the Australian indigenous peoples culture, we as a country would dominate soccer.
I think theyre built for it. The inate skill, speed and unique spatial reasoning they seem to magically possess would translate to soccer fantastically.
I mean cmon… Imagine what Cyril wouldve done if he’d grown up obsessed with round ball and kicking one around since he could walk.
Maybe it would have been different but the Africans have been going to dominate soccer for about the last 60 years and they are still ■■■■ despite their populations
Friends grandson has just been picked up to trial at Barcelona. He tells me natural ability is one thing, but without the good coaching and skill development then it doesn’t go far. Africa, Asia and maybe here would suffer from that lack of skilled coaches. We see it regularly at the Bombers.
Soccer trials are certainly a huge pyramid scheme opportunity.
Parents can get charged a hungie just for the chance to get onto an under 15s team at some of the big local clubs. Then a grand in fees if they make it. Clubs charge coaches 3-4 figures to get coaching accreditations just so they can volunteer. But yes, excellence and all that.
I don’t know much about soccer but had a discussion about this with someone who has followed euri soccer all his life. Of course good coaching is important but it’s not just good coaching, which the Europeans have had and now richer African nations are also adopting. It’s getting the kids into these academies early. This also helps them later when they play for their country as they are less likely to regard teammates as competitors.
Our friends are Spanish and richer than God so that side will not be a problem.
I do know that a guy who worked for me, and his son had showed ability was put off by the extraordinary fees he had to pay to even play locally in Melbourne. He said coaching clinics ran into hundreds for each lesson and camps were more expensive than a luxury escape.
Like today I was feeling really tired and was really grumpy, so I went outside in the heat and just started doing some work in the garden. Raised a sweat and did a couple of hours labour, and felt great for the rest of the day.
