If employers can ask to speak to a previous employer for a reference check, why canât a prospective employee asked a previous employee about the employer?
The employer wants to make sure theyâre not engaging with a dickhÄad employee. Why canât the person getting interviewed do the same?
nothing could stop you tracking one down yourself, but i would definitely have a problem with a former workplace giving out my name and phone number

I know people rag on LinkedIn, but this is where it comes in handy.
Just takes some time to trawl through and find some connections. Most industries are small enough, that people will know if your new manager is a flog or not.
