What electricity plan do you use for charging? Do you have solar and/or battery?
We have 16 kw of solar panels and a 32 kw battery. Should be more than we need but never seems to work that way, probably need it checked out by an expert. We do use a lot of power and Mrs Fox is adding heating to back patio which will probably be another 5000 watts
I also bought a wind turbine but sent it back as installation is more difficult than I expected.

You can charge the car at night bypass the battery, you can get plans with special EV rates from midnight to 6am. I dont have n EV yet but I dont reckon I would charge it using my solar or battery anyway as it would flatten the home battery it too quickly wouldnt it?
Even if you charged off the mains bypassing the battery at grid prices it would be still heaps chaper than fossil fuel wouldnt it?

Zeeker X looks pretty good too, they have dropped their price for std RWD to about 45k. This mid size space is very comptetive. Im definately waiting for the xpeng L03 . I think it will hit the sweet spot for me. Even into next year they will have a range boosted PHEV with 200k EV range and up to 1000 k combined , Thats very appealing, as I would be 90% local driving and doing a lot of BNE to sydney trips too, so 1000 k range nearly gets me there on a 40ltr tank of fuel . Real world would be more likely 850 900 K range youd think

that would be a bargain now if range isnāt a concern, physical buttons, unique styling

Yeah the Urban is smallish but lots of space, big boot with conceled extra recess. Not after a little hatch. Would be leased through her work as well so has to be new

What energy plan?
I tried GloBird, with free energy 11am to 2pm, and basically free daily charge if you feed 3kW into the grid between 6pm and 9pm. But with the EV and cloudy or rainy days in Winter, in a big house with 6 people. I couldnāt keep cost to zero. With a smaller household and keeping charging to 11am to 2pm etc, with a battery, you can keep electricity costs to zero.
Iāve just changed to OVO EV plan, at 4.7 cents per kWh (4.5 cents per kWh if you let them āsmoothā the bills) from midnight to 6am. I now charge the EV and my battery to full every night, and any sun during the day holds charge up even under heavy usage.
Donāt have an energy plan, never looked at it.

While I have you Guru Glu, what NBN plan do you use ? We have had FTTP since day one and will we pay for 200/50, it has not been that stable lately. Download at night is about 50 and up load about 40, Ping can be as low as 9, but often above 30. We got a new recommended Modem about six months ago and it came all pre-configured but seems to us that it has not been as reliable. Does changing providers make any difference.

Just an FYI I am pretty sure (havenāt done it) but pretty sure you can lease second hand EVs.

As for NBN, Iām with Tangerine. Owned by Richard Bransonās brother and Richard. And just recently, they moved their underlying infrastructure to Aussie Broadband. I have found Tangerineās service to be good, at a cheaper rate than some. Iām connected with FTTP at 500Gbit down/50 up. I was first recommended it by my mateās wife, whoās 2IC at NBN.

Also, the main reason the overnight power is so cheap is that the wind turbines keep turning while not many people are using much power, so it also happens to be mostly green energy, produced very cheaply.

Yes OVO FTW, but they just got rid of the killer plan I have (ends in August)
It was free 11-2, and 8c per KWH 12am-6am.
I think their new plans are really one or the other, not both.
feed jn tartif is now paying about .5 c which is so so ā ā ā ā .

I wouldāve thought itās just the higher rate in the day is covering the lower rate in the PM.
But who cares, make the system work for you if you can. Eventually the electricity companies will be able to draw from your battery to sell when they need it (if you signed up for the recent rebate)
