A very interesting scenario for LFC. Having been 100% adamant he is not for sale at any price, he has now confirmed he wants to leave. If we sell, it makes the club look pretty ordinary and again sends the message that our best players can be bought. But if we don’t sell, will we be keeping a player who will down tools and sulk for the next 6 months? Suarez wanted out before 13/14, we held firm and then he produced a sensational season and moved on after that. If Phil can give us one more year and produce his brilliant best every week, I’d be happy with that and allow him to leave for Barca with good wishes. Also, there’s only 3 weeks left in the window, doesn’t leave much time to find a replacement, and even if we do, the price will be heavily inflated.

Yay Gunners. Another 4-3 season opener, this time our way.

Big test of our resolve. The Barca machine has gone into action, it’s how they do business. Reports have suggested that Phil met with Pep Guardiola and he sold him the dream of being a Barca legend. Now, how does that work? A manager of a PL rival speaking to a player from another team about joining Barcelona. I know we got our fingers singed over VVD but surely that can’t be allowed? Did Barcelona put him up to do this? This transfer window has been shambolic from a Liverpool perspective. If we end this window having not signed VVD and going back on our word and letting Phil leave the FSG out brigade will be loud and strong!

Our squad would have effectively gone backwards.

That being said it would push Firmino in to the midfield and give the likes of Solanki and Origi more games.

We should be able to have done better though.

According to the BBC’s transfer gossip column:

Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Isco, 25, now has a release clause of 700m euros (£637m) after signing a four-year deal with the option of a further season.

PSG, come on down!
