Essendon vs Geelong - Review

We should try and recruit a Joe Daniher or Orazio Fantasia type forward.

Cox,Perkins,Jones the only kids we have.

I really donā€™t by that excuse once again our senior players have failed

Still canā€™t get over that Draper play in the goal square

Wtf was he thinking :sob::triumph:

No forward structure, little forward movement and positioning.
We need smart forwards
Hooker, Wright, Waterman are too one dimensional.
Jones, Perkins are young and learning to position themselves and spread to ensure other more experienced forwards get 1:1 contests.
Tippa although kicked 2 goals really has gone missing the past month against tigers, Dees and tonight,
between ham, smith and Snelling neither of them looked dangerous and were out of position when the ball was brought to ground.

Reckon you might need to relook at our list.

The core group is below 23.

Is another bad game away from being dropped to the vfl

A lot of our guys struggled and couldnā€™t get in the game. Our youngsters are starting to look tired. Our forward entries woeful again. Cutler a nothing game. Please no more. Ham not getting any better. Parish a competitive beast but thought his kicking was off.

Overall still a fair bit of ground to cover to match it with the best

Ball use inside 50. Every week. For years now.

Need to draft/trade in some elite ball-users, because Caldwell/McGrath/Shiel arenā€™t going to make us a whole lot better in that area.

I was really disappointed with our last quarter, tbh. So many positive signs (delivery I50 aside) up until that point. Back to back 6 day breaks looks like it really took a toll on our kids.

Iā€™d bring in Guelfi, Durham & Francis (or BZT or even Reid) next week for Ham, Cutler & Waterman.

How many games has Draper played?

Drapers a kid experience wise.

And then thereā€™s Waterman

Ok who else?

Majority of the team is full of 25/26 year olds

Snelling, Parish, Ridley, Draper are all pretty young mate. Others playing roles theyā€™ve never played before (Stewart, Laverde etc.) Whether you like it or not itā€™s a fact and is contributing to some of the brain fades we see on game day

We did ok, Geelong wonā€™t win a Grand Final, there old players will finish up, Dangerfield, Hawkins, Smith, Selwood,

Not too displeased with that. The margin blew out in the end, and it wasnā€™t reflective of the difference between the two sides tonight. I felt that we had the better of them in the third quarter, but we couldnā€™t get reward for our effort. The game should have been close at three quarter time. Unfortunately, our younger players tired out in the last, and their older bodies got on top.

Yes there were several disappointing aspects from tonight, but people need to be realistic. This is the hardest trip in footy, and they and their star player had the media go after them this week. We held our own for three quarters despite all of that.

This is the same Geelong that pulverised West Coast by 100 points at the same venue. We gave it a decent crack, but were reminded we still have a lot more work to do

Was this our biggest loss of the year? cant remember if it was Lions or Port

If we could kick to our forwards like the cats did tonight just imagine how much better we would be.

Clearly won 1 quarter, lost the next, halved the third and lost the last with a bunch of tired youngstersā€¦ against last yearā€™s grand finalist, and probably in the GF this year.

Too many being too disappointed hereā€¦ weā€™re tracking upwardsā€¦ be patient

Ridley, Redman, McGrath, Caldwell, Draper, Cox, Perkins, Reid, Jones, Parish, Francis would be the core players for the next 8-10 years.
