You guys are huge revisionists, I canāt believe thereās hardly any support for Evans in here.
You blame him for being strong-armed by Vlad into self reporting? He had been told directly by Vlad that we were mentioned in an ACC report and that the AFP and customs had strong evidence to suggest Dank & Robinson had been injecting our players with PEDās.
Firstly, you think Evanās āself-reportingā would have made any difference? Pretty sure if Worksafe, ASADA, AFP, AFL wanted to raid our offices they wouldnāt have had any trouble getting the required permissions. Remember part of everybodyās contract with the AFL compels them to comply with ASADA if instructed to by the AFL. The fact is, self-reporting made no difference to the evidence collected and was intended to show that we had nothing to hide.
Secondly, I love how you guys think we can just āstick it to the AFLā. Havenāt you learned a farking thing? Evanās either thought we were innocent (which I thought we were in agreeance that we WERE innocent right?), in which case self reporting was the right thing to do. If there was a problem, we wanted to know what it was, and hopefully any penalty would be reduced. Remember when we were looking at 30 players being banned for 21 months?
And if Evanās though we were guilty, then shame on him (you blokes never doubted us for a second did you, lol), but he was told directly that we were farked and it was all about to be announced by the minister, at which point in time any kind of deal or co-operation might save the club from being de-registered or whatever. Itās all fine for you tough guys to say āI would have told them to shove itā but when the stakes are as high as they were, you donāt want the person in charge of your country/family/company/club to risk EVERYTHING in choosing one path when there is an almost guaranteed chance of survival on the path. Remember when most of you wanted Hird to withdraw his appeal because whatever we were going to cop you just wanted it to be over rather than rick players missing games?
As for the situation regarding him leaving the club, he relinquished his role when it was clear his course of action hadnāt worked, and he was breaking down from the pressure, which was honorable IMO. Are people saying he faked his illness suggesting they wanted him to stay on, otherwise stop complaining.
Iām amazed people are sticking up for Evans, he has had almost 3 years to come out and talk and he never has. The guy left our club burning behind him and left his so called friend James Hird facing the blowtorch.
donating money doesnāt clear ones conscious or soul (granted he seemed to donate alot before this shit, but still).
at the very least he was duped into allowing this club to be torn apart from the outside due to business relationships and friendships outside of EFC interests. At worst he did it deliberately.
I like most donāt need to know % of the blame, heāll be remembered outside of the boys/money club as he should, as evidenced by most of the replys in this thread.
I also find it odd anyone who sticks up for him cos he put in some money. buying influence at clubs rarely seems to work. I mean most around here will go and laugh at the absolute mess carlton is cos of John Elliots ego and money brought influence, yet will turn around and want Evans cut some slack despite crippling this club, get stuffed.
lol benfti. You know better then that. All facts are within the court case. Evans was no question guilty of throwing Hird and staff under the bus for what he thought was for the good of the clubā¦ Hird stood the moral highground. Evans took the easy corrupt way out.
lol at revisionsist. Sure some here have only recently come to realise the mistakes Evans made but FFS some were also very clear that self reporting & the Ziggy were monumental mistakes from the start.
