We’ll probably be using picks for points to match bids on Brand and Eyre. But it depends on where they get bid on how many picks we get in before using picks to match. Brand expected to go in the 20-35 range, Eyre later if at all.
Got a feeling from my observations at training WOB, that Raz has been ‘overplaying the injury card’ a fair bit over the last 2 years because of his desire to return to SA. Think whoever picks him up may get a pleasant surprise!
Us paying some of Razs salary to get him to Adelaide on the basis of a favourable trade otherwise could be such a smart move. Surely will be discussed between clubs.
Except that you’re not counting:
A. How many times we play top 8 teams per year, and
B. That in 2020 he kicked 44.% of his goals vs top 8 sides in 2019 54% of his goals vs top 8 sides in 1 game. Take those performances out and he’s pretty damn average.
I love the guy, he’s one of my favorites, but I’m not blind enough to notice his best games are typically against teams who don’t play finals like intensity.
To your first point, I applied a very broad brush to determine the averages, I suspect that across 4 years we have played the top 8 sides no more than we have played the bottom 10…
Also, you initially argued you would rather have Raz. Wondering how he has gone in those same years based on the same standard you are applying. Considering he didnt kick a goal this year I am guessing he also kicked less than Walla against top 8 teams, im guessing 0. Maybe better in the previous years? He did kick more goals than Walla…in 2017.
@Odoyle spot on the money towards your comment regarding tippa.
not to mention we weren’t a high scoring side this year and didn’t kick more than 10 goals in 12 out of 18 games.
From the Brisbane game we only made it over 50 points a game 4 out of the next 10 games. We were sh*t house.
we barely scored and you’re trying to sh*t on a bloke who scored 19 goals and only 5 behinds.
odoyle debunked your statement of him being overrated and can’t kick goals against top sides and you still are stubborn and argue about it *facepalm
Please, Raz would be an AA if he was drafted by Geelong.
Good clubs get the best out of players who are susceptible to injury.
Clubs like Essendon who are completely inept at conditioning players or implementing training standards make players like Fantasia injury prone.
It will be horrific to see him kick bags of 4&5 in SA (like he did for us as a 22 year old), while the 175cm half back we draft with the 3rd round pick we receive for him is delisted in 2022.
If Tippa were playing in a better team, he would have more opportunities and he would kick more goals. Its that simple. Any other team team in the AFL would be happy to have him on their list.
I hope we could do this and get a favourable return… but surely Adelaide is longer in salary cap trouble. They would be willing to do a similar deal if the situation were reversed to get them selves a better pick.
It’s not debunked at all utterly hilarious to think otherwise.
2020 he played 8 games vs final 8 sides, kicking 10 goals, 4 of which came from the one game meaning he kicked 6 in the other 9 games.
2019 he played 10 games against top 8 sides, kicking 13 goals, 7 of which came in the one game meaning he kicked 6 in the other 9 games.
Again I like him, not all of that is his fault as we’ve been poor during that stretch, but he always plays his best when against poor opposition or when the side is on an absolute roll.
Surely you can see that he goes absolutely missing for vast chunks of games, especially when he’s playing poorly?
Raz is the same, I just think head to head he has more upside assuming both somehow remained injury free.
To be honest I think Tip will blow out to 200kgs in the next 3 years ala Dean Rioli and he’ll be cooked.
It’s a two-team race for the services of Bomber Orazio Fantasia.
But so far it’s looming likely that Adelaide will be the club of choice for the contracted forward.
“This has been talked about for two or three years, he pulled out late last year. It looks like it is going to happen now,” Adelaide Advertiser journalist Reece Homfray said on Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.
“I think Adelaide would definitely be the front runner. Chris Davies, the Port Adelaide football manager did a media conference two weeks ago and said that he’s never spoken about someone more who he actually hasn’t spoken to than Orazio Fantasia.
“Unless Port Adelaide are doing some clever work behind the scenes, I think Crows definitely the front runner. Crows footy manager Adam Kelly put it on the agenda today.
“Fantasia does have a link to Port Adelaide through Nathan Bassett who is an assistant coach. Played under him at Norwood, I’m not sure how tight that is. But Adelaide would have the space and the room to move in being able to get him home and to West Lakes next year.”
