That is kind of my point, he’s been played by us recently as as a half forward that pushes up into the contest. He’s always going to be under pressure in that role (especially on our team).
He would be under way less pressure if he was played behind the ball and had the game in front of him. I guess similar arguments have been made with McGrath recently.
Not saying he’d make it, but I believe those players I mentioned who were able to develop behind the ball on good teams definitely benefited from that
He would be under way less pressure on the bench, or in the VFL. In the AFL he is going to be under pressure and scrutiny from all and sundry, that is the way it is and the player has to lift to respond to it.
I think he’s having a marginally better game. No unforced fumbles, hit most of his targets. He’s not turning into Lenny Hayes any time soon, but he does need to be clean and efficient.
I think he did about as well as he is going to today.
I will concede that he was better and more committed to a contest than I have ever seen him, but there were still a few noticeable instances of weakness.
