Lethlean played Hawthorn reserves. Probably the link there.
Teague could be a good coach.
Fortunately those around him will pull him down to suburban level in a few years.
Then he will be sacked.
Rinse and repeat.
Delicious.
I can’t imagine he’ll be cut a lot of slack.
Next year is a gimme.
If he doesn’t get results halfway through 2021 people will be asking why they went with a bush league assistant with no process.
#trainingwheels
I think Judd has to leave the board now. He can’t publicly come out sledging Teague and then be seen as supporting his appointment.
Fingers crossed they keep SOS for a few more years to completely ruin their list.
I don’t. Not at all. So I’m happy.
FC have managed to put together a remarkable sequence of dud coaches. They can be forgiven for going with Pagan and Malthouse, who were both experienced and successful coaches at other clubs, but “Britts”? “Ratts”? “Bolts”? ■■■.
And now Tiggs, I suppose. I hope they’ve given him a 5-year contract. It seems to be their standard.
■■■■ Carlton are finally actually building something unfortunately
Cripps and Walsh will be the best 1-2 punch in the league and they’ve done well with the Setterfield trade. Round out the mids with SPS, Fisher, Kennedy, Dow, Murphy and you actually have something that looks like it could be quite good in a few years.
Solid back six once Docherty returns and a great young spine (though they need a ruck to replace Kreuzer).

Not having a go at you, but “process” is a only of very limited value in appointing someone to any position, and even less value when it’s a position like coach of an AFL club.
Process – checking qualifications, verifying CV, checking references, etc. – is useful in weeding out frauds and so on. But beyond that it does little. Being a successful coach depends on a huge range of factors, most of which can only be evaluated after the coach has been in the job for quite a while. Can he establish a rapport with the players? Can he develop a style of play that suits the abilities of the players? No selection process can answer those questions.
I don’t think they can be forgiven for going with Malthouse. And I think Ratten was a good appointment, who they then shafted, rather than giving him the time and resources he needed to get the job done.
He had the best part of 5 years, didn’t he? And they were still on the bottom.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ratten’s a much better coach this time around, assuming he gets the gig at St Kilda.
Why do you say they can’t be forgiven for Malthouse? He coached West Coast to a couple of premierships, and Carlton took him on just after he’d coached Collingwood to a flag. Not many coaches are good enough to win multiple flags, let alone at different clubs. He turned out to be unsuccessful, but I don’t think you can say it was a silly decision to appoint him.
Anyway, we should all just give thanks that they then made absolutely the most insane and least successful choice of all, and got themselves Bolton.
Malthouse seemed like a safe choice but he was a disaster.
Anything good they’ve done happened under not him.
Not enough Fark Carltons in here
He was clearly too old and past it IMO, the game had moved on, and he seemed to be getting towards senility.
Hearing him doing special comms on the ABC coverage does nothing to dispel that judgement either, I can tell you that .
Their list is building nicely.
Add a Coniglio and a ruckman to replace Keizer and they have the foundations for to build a very strong team.
As much as we hate these ■■■■■■ they will very likely leap frog us in the next few years.
If Daniher doesn’t come back we have no young key position forward. We’re hopeful that Draper will return from an ACL and become our first Ruck and our Key position backs in Hurley/Hooker are almost cooked.
We’ll finally get the midfield we ■■■■■■ wanted for 10-15 years at the same time that our KPP’s are all done.
This is it.
This is what’s behind my impatience.
People talking like these very important players will last forever and it’s okay for us to spend five, or okay…have it your way…two, years ‘learning.’
Or to put it another way, waiting for the coaching panel to get their ■■■■ together.
Well, sorry.
It’s later than you think.
Real life doesn’t work like that.
We have a great list that will very soon become ‘had’ a great list.
Malthouse was first and second in his last two years as a coach - Love someone to explain how that is a dinosaur.
That’s true if you ignore his last three seasons as coach where his team finished 9th, 13th and he got sacked halfway through the last year.
Sooooo…
Completely untrue, is what you’re quite factually stating.
The point is FarkCarlton made the mistake of believing a Team is a good team because of the Coach, … and that a Coach that really was getting behind the game but had success because he had a good team, … would magically turn a shitt team into a good one, when they should have been doing a full rebuild, with a younger, modern bloke at the helm…
I thought the point was that an experienced coach farked a developing team by playing B grade players at the expense of young talent and not recognising genuine footballers.
