Father Son Watch (2017 onwards)

Was just thinking if the northern clubs get so much free access to the academies then father son should change to played 1 game for the club.
It wouldn’t open up a huge amount of selections but would give clubs more options to work with

Clubs would make sure ever player on their list plays at least 1 game and then in 20 years 2/3 players will be f/s

The kid has to be half decent to warrant it but how much different is that to the swans, gws and gc academies they are getting a player every year normally but currently the father sons a few and far between

How many sons of former players are drafted that aren’t eligible under the current father sons rule?

I’m sure there is some but I can’t think of many at the moment. James O’Donnell is one.

Didn’t Cox dad play for Melbourne. Micheal Prior boy plays for the Lions. I think there would be heaps.

Iam not sure on the exact number and it would be hard to measure id think as the clubs wouldn’t be developing those players like they do with eligible father sons

noah anderson missed out on going to hawks.
there would be a few ben and sam reid were the same.

then u have poor old north who has kids dads who qualify then choose to plays for swans as in their academy as dads coaching. (Lizard)

Noah Caracella will be with Geelong Falcons, played a handful of games as a bottom ager last year

Who was his Dad ? Dean Anderson?

Let me have a try was his father named Greg

I caught Mr. Anderson while watching The Matrix. He’s sure got some moves.

Didn’t he play for Essendon and Adelaide? Not Hawthorn?

Sorry you are right

Dean Anderson - who I think we are talking about - is the father of Noah who plays at the Gold Coast Suns.
Dean played 80 something for Hawthorn so the Dorks missed out on Noah as a father son.
He also played 60 something games for the Saints.

That was Greg Anderson, but he is not Noah Anderson’s Dad.

It begins

Bewick junior will probably end up at Collingwood

I don’t like the father son rule, but I will blow up AFL house if they change the rules before we get Bewick.

No way they get rid of it.

90% of the afl community froffs it.

Of all the myriad crap that makes a season unfair, taking away the F/M Son/Daughter rule would be a terrible thing to get rid of.

Yeah that’s fine. Give all clubs equal access to Northern Academies then…which they won’t so keep the status quo.
