This where Eddie comes usefull he would be screaming from the roof tops to protect the F/S rules
Why Pies
If any he would go to Tassie with one of thier gazzilion draft pick concensions they wiil get
Because Pies trade Mason Cox to Tassie for a top 5 pick and get Bewick with it.
Which club boss is it? I can’t open the article.
It doesn’t say. It was an anonymous survey.
Fixed. If Tassie actually comes into existence, of course.
- Remove father son rule immediately
- Remove father son rule after Essendon get Bewick
- Leave the father son rule alone
- Remove Northern academies access in the top 10
Why can’t we keep the father/son rule AND remove the Northern Academy access to top 10 players??
I think they should keep the northern academies but open up the eligibility to father son to just play a game for the club.
It would open up more father sons the fans love.
Why can’t we remove anything that compromises the draft?
It’s not like F/S’s can’t get to their preferred club via trades. I really have a problem with how compromised every draft is.
But I like the father/son rule.
Sorry; but, this a lame excuse for the AFL to keep the Northern States highly competitive. I understand GWS and the Suns; but, what is the reasoning behind Sydney & Brisbane having Academies.
Sydney have been around forever and are producing their own F/S’s and Brisbane have access to Fitzroys’, so they are getting a “double dip”.
Which is why I said to remove their Academies’ top 10 access. If they can remove the academies altogether, even better!
yep.
get rid of everything and leave only the ‘normal’ draft and trade mechanisms.
of course that would likely lead to a level of equalisation and fairness that the AFL would not find acceptable.
Except the northern clubs would say the strong go home factor makes it unfair thus the importance of having access to local talent.
Imgaine Koby Bewick gets drafted by another club if they remove thr F/S rule
Fark that ■■■■
You keep going on about this, it is one of your recurring nightmares. Relax.
they would say that…
players generally can’t ‘go home’ without the club being compensated though, so there is clearly a mechanism to deal with that exact scenario already.
clubs lose players all the time.
we lost ryder, carlisle, saad, fantasia, mckenna and daniher.
do we get an academy?
I said the same things a few months ago about Sydney and Brisbane getting two bites at the cherry. Doesn’t seem fair really. I understand the need for them to have academies though to ensure that pipeline of local talent has a destination/end point.
What if the AFL ‘bought’ these academies off both clubs and turned them into ‘national’ academies with access to all 18 clubs? Would that stifle AFL in NSW and QLD?
Imagine Darren Bewick gets a coaching gig he can’t refuse at Sydney.
Swans will even put Koby in the swans academy to fast track his footy development. fast forward a couple of years and he chooses to stay in NSW and play for the bin chickens over donning the sash…now that’s a nightmare.
