Favourite 4th Albums

Now that the latest version of Blonde DJ has concluded, I thought I’d start up this little thread.

It’s based on a well known member of the DJ King community’s belief that artists crash and burn after their third album (if not before).

I dispute this and we have had several conversations over time about the concept.

So the idea here is simple…just nominate the 4th album by an artist that proves that they have not crashed and burned after album number 3.

Nominate as many as you like but I’ll just start with these few little masterpieces:

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
Queen - A Night At The Opera
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town

Have at it peoples

Billy Joel - Turnstiles
(and he then released The Stranger, so not a bad 5th album… ).

so many outstanding tracks:
Say Goodbye to Hollywood
Summer, Highland Falls
New York State of Mind
Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)

Abba Arrival. Fourth album (after Ring Ring, Waterloo and Abba albums.
It included Dancing Queen. Knowing me Knowing You. Money Money Money.
Their best album to that point and maybe ever.

Bad Religion - No Control (my fave and they were just getting going on a great run)

Beastie Boys - Ill Communication (no Paul’s, but a massive 4th, and the 5th wasn’t bad either)

Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret (their 3rd was amazing, this had the instantly likeable radio type stuff, and they’d just continue being good)

And another band which starts with B who don’t even need mentioning.
