Favourite Instrumentals (Title changed for Soulnet, but will now be incorrect for some other reason)

Pretty self explanatory. I’ve limited my list to ten - even though it’s pretty eclectic. There are many many more that I could add but will be interesting to see if they come out in others lists.

Green Onions – Booker T & the MG’s
Orion - Metallica
Transitions – Beastie Boys
Futura - Battles
Youngblood – Russian Circles
Tontankamoon - Bzark
Dummy – Jesu
Pink Eye on my leg - Ween
Instrumental – Faith No More
Last Bongo in Belgium – Incredible Bongo Band

No ‘Wedding Cake Island’ ?

Boooo…

I like many.
For those that are into progrock instrumentals, check out Ozric Tentacles. ‘Coily’ is a great track, among many others.
Oh - and something a touch heavier - Liquid tension Experiment.

I nearly put A.O. - VspyVspy, but techically it has lyrics.

Instrumental Song is not a real thing. By music definition a song has words. Instrumental piece would be better.

As for favourites;

Camellia, off The Rose soundtrack.

Thread title updated for Soulnet. He seems to be fairly pedantic about these things.

I’ll also add: Fugazi - Sweet and Low, as well as any of the Meters’ instrumental pieces.

I assume we're excluding classical?

Yeah, I think classical could probably have it’s own thread, and think it does.

Should have been a bit more clear about parameters. Thinking more along the lines of popular/rock etc.

Oh yeah! Faith No More - Woodpecker from Mars.

It’s the bitterness in me for not pushing for a career in music.

It’s ok, I’m very similar.

I’ve got a few borderline ones that I’ll leave out, but off the top of my head…

La Femme D’Argent, Talisman - Air
Journey of the Sorcerer - The Eagles
Whale and Wasp - Alice in Chains

Any love for Tangerine Dream?

Sunspots - Bob Mould
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield
Oh Boy - Cheap Trick
One For The Boys - Brian Wilson
Spacesuit - They Might Be Giants
Space Invader - The Pretenders
Wedding Cake Island - Midnight Oil
