oh if it works, i’ll only get louder and more I told you so’s.
I cop alot of ■■■■ on here, i’m gonna start annoying the living ■■■■ out of you and others for when I turn out to be right, which is more often than not sadly.
So if we did actually snag a win with hooker, i’m coming straight back just to say, I told you so, i’ll even tag you if i can be bothered to learn how to tag :).
PS you’ll cop 10 days of me bragging about being right if they get a win with hooker back. God i hope that works Just so my posting in general will annoy the absolute ■■■■ out of you, without even trying
So what the reaction in here going to be if Myers has one of his normal two good games a year. 30 touches, 7 clearances, 9 tackles and a goal and holds Wines to a poor game?
Personally I think he will not last past R10 as a B22 player. He should start his coaching career at the end of the year.
As for Port, shut down the clearances you kill port, we are not capable of doing that. So we are going to have to run and gun from half back like never before.
As far as the discussion of Hooker…forward or back is concerned, the following factors that are more relevant to 2018 make his movement to the backline (at least in the short term) compelling…
Hartley can’t quite make the improvement from VFL level backman to AFL.
Brown gets lost under the high ball and is consequently outmarked too often, even by smaller players.
We lost Gleeson for the majority of the season, who is our best reader/intercept marking player.
Hurley, for whatever reason (injury/confidence), cannot defend a bigger opponent anymore, and his shonky wrist prevent him from consistently taking the marks that he should.
Ambrose was our best lock down KP defender last year, but has not regained the form pre injury, and is only coming back from a further injury now.
Still, he is no AA level defender, and never will be !
Whilst out of form, JD is another year older.
Stewart has beefed up sufficiently to handle KP status.
We have added Stringer in the off season.
A pretty damn good forward when on song, and we know he can only handle limited midfield minutes ATM.
Begley, Laverde and Langford need AFL games experience, but their forwardline minutes will be severely impacted if we persist with our extra tall forward line of Hooker, JD & Stewart, as they aren’t true smalls in the mould of Fanta, Tippa & Green.
Sending Hooker to defence allows us to go with a 2/2/2 (rather than 3/3), thus allowing a rotation of midfield time and forward time for the 3 players mentioned.
The Backline needs some leadership right now, and Hurley will benefit greatly from Cale’s return to defence.
*** Hookesy is a terrific forward, but the time is right now to send him back !
