There are reasons why I might have imagined things, but it looked to me that with Edwards soccer "poster" , fletch closed the gap quicker than Dempsey did? 39 years old, six foot six and closing speed like you wouldn't believe. Dead set freak and possibly now in front of TD as my favorite ever player.

Nah, I think Dempsey was closer, Fletch still passed a couple of their younger (not that that's saying much) smalls going for the ball at times. Must be a bit embarrassing for Cotchin knowing that you're little, in your prime and meant to be nippy and a bloke with a free bus pass can just jog past you.
Dempsey was closer but I had the impression that fletch was gaining more ground.
Cotchin can attend the same therapy sessions as Jeff gartlett, lol.

 

 

I'm with you on this one. Fletch isn't just quick, he has the ability to 'chase smart,' use the angles, and make up ground no matter who he is chasing. 

 

He was so incredible, again, last night. And when he kicks a goal, we never lose.

Put Carlisle back where he belongs and build a premiership strength back line .Big red isn't going to be playing by the time we get close so make the move.  
 
Play the old fella in a tall winger type role ala the Fridge from North or what they did with Richo ( iirc)  late in his career ..free him up to run a bit , he can match with the quicks and out mark the smalls . May not work but if he got the ball around midfield  you could back it to be delivered deep, quick  and accurately into the forwards.

the midfield ..bomber commented that he was nearly in the middle tonight ..or something to that effect

As someone who played full back if not as a defender a lot of my footy career, loved it.
