Forgotten Icecream

This post got me wanting ice cream so, made my own ice cream today!
Creamy vanilla with banana blended through it, froze it then mixed it up again and blended Belgian dipping chocolate through it. Went down to the pick your own local strawberries and had someone else pick me a kilo ($9), and have spent the last hour stuffing my tummy .
Now I feel sick, but it was fun.

ROFLMAO
You went to the pick your own strawberries and had someone pick you some.....
That is a beautiful thing.

Well, it is not as decadent as that but.....
This place at the top of the Avenue of Honor in Bacchus Marsh has the biggest and sweetest strawbs you will ever see. This time of year is best, but they are good until March. Anyway costs $9 a kilo to pick your own, and $9 a kilo to buy them already picked and washed in punnets !
Now maybe when your I your own you eat a few, but it is not an easy job and I am too old to crawl around in the dirt with the great unwashed Doggy and pie supporters !

Almost every time I'm coming back from Melbourne I stop there for some fruit. Some of the best fruit shopping in Oz.

And we also have Dougie Hawkins, what a place to be !

Mid to late 80's, the Halo Bar.

Love them, don't think they lasted long but they shat all over Maxibons.

For me, the ice cream I miss the most, came in a tub and was called Citra/Citropolitan. Was Orange, Lemon and Vanilla flavoured. Just like Neapolitan, divided into three. Last time I remember having it was mid 70's ish.

Dairy Bell made that as well. Was still around in the 80's and maybe part of the 90's. Also made a sherbert ice cream.

I had Toppa ice-creams drawn to my attention...I believe they were icy-poles though...related to Noon Pies, which we used to get in the school tuckshop.

I'm only 30 and I used to take a noon pie wrapped in foil to the footy! Then I remember noon disappeared and we ended up just buying a cold one at the game cos th next frozen supermarket alternative didnt stack up!

Used to duck down to the Dairy Bell factory. They had a little shop there that served hot milkshakes. Yummmm.

I use to work there during school holidays. Loading trucks and re-stocking the shop.

They're in Coles, can buy the boxes of em, our local dairy used to sell the Banana Boy variant.

Haven't read the whole topic but some of you should recall "Nuts about Chocolate" ice cream, usually got it from Safeway.

Man that was good.
