Forgotten Icecream

I was reminiscing about the glory days (I'm 29) and going through cartoons we used to watch, different type of lollies we used to eat (remember Ka-Bluey?) However when we got to ice-creams, we couldn't remember one in particular.

To describe:

Standard ice cream on a stick, chocolate coated.

BUT,

There was a solid piece of chocolate at the very centre of the ice cream, about two inches long, on the stick.

Driving us insane.

I'm still trying to remember this one. I know exactly the one you mean. Feast!

The one I remember had chocolate ice cream and pretty sure it was called Triple Choc.

just read this straight after my post.

And yes ive been searching for it because I want one. If the feast is still available in the UK then im going, and am going to stop at the States on the way to get some Smart Food.

I miss the glory that was the Hazelnut Roll. Last seen at Billy Burgers in Nagambie in about 1994...

Some great old names here, Drumsticks, haven't seen a mention of Trumpets which were the street variety of Drumstick, kreem between, eskimo Pie, Golden Gaytime,  anyone mention splice? , wink, but the deluxe for me was the Hazelnut rolls when they hit town, beautiful....wish they still had them..

Nowadays gotta love fresh gelati, and for at home Street's Vienetta is wicked...

Worst thin about ice cream these days is that it more aerated foamy ■■■■ than traditional icecream, the thick and well CREAMY stuff we used to recall as kids.

There was a documentary About now they ice cream companies stooge us by putting in less ingredients, whipping it up, and still charging by volume.

Anyway guys shouldn’t really be eating icecream unless they’re under 15, or in the company of their wife and or kids.

■■■■ that, icecream is for all people of all ages at ALL TIMES.

fark that, icecream is for all people of all ages at ALL TIMES.

And on that point, Maggie Beer has some new flavours out...none recommended by Jenny Craig, unfortunately.

Sennits used to have a factory in Homesglen which became a Streets factory when they took over Sennits. It also had a coin operated ice dispensing machine. I can remember going there  with my dad to pick up ice for the Ice Chest [ Pre fridge days- 50's ]

I had this ■■■■ when I was about five.

It shot axes and stars from its hands at cowering tiny Star Wars figures and was awesome.

Also, Heart. Two-in-one.

Two in Ones were cool. So were Eskimo Pies.
■■■ Eskimo Pies were my favourite....Loved squishing them all up while they were still wrapped and then squeezing the chocolatey ice creamy goodness through the top of the wrapper....good times!

Except if you had fillings, the foil would arc off your teeth if you weren't careful.

Ah, the old amalgam fillings. *shudder* They remind me of dentistry before high speed drills. Not nice.

And when doctors used syringes the size of telephone poles!

And Eskimo Pies were awesome.

Have to confess to a soft spot for Sara Lee French Vanilla and Ultrachocolate.  And I don't give a, I couldn't care less what Jenny Craig recommends.

Wow this is bringing back some long forgotten memories…

Friday after school my best friend and I would grab an Eskimo Pie from the freezer and race out to the barn to lie in the hay and talk through the week.

My world needs more Eskimo Pies and more hay bales.

I was also a big Two in One fan. Liked the idea of being able to split it into two ice creams.

Lol I could never break it evenly. My brother would insist on a chopping board and a knife to ensure he got exactly half.

I had Raydeen - favourite toy ever.  It shot these bird looking arrows from its chest (lost them after a few weeks) & its fist would fire half way across the room.  It just seemed so much more advanced than anything else of its time.  Tried to buy 1 a few years back & found 1, still  in its box, in the US.  Ended up selling for over $800 which was just too much for some nostalgia.

This post got me wanting ice cream so, made my own ice cream today!

Creamy vanilla with banana blended through it, froze it then mixed it up again and blended Belgian dipping chocolate through it. Went down to the pick your own local strawberries and had someone else pick me a kilo ($9), and have spent the last hour stuffing my tummy .

Now I feel sick, but it was fun.
