Needs to get more competitive. That was a knock on Wright too so it can be done. Needs to find that competitive streak FAST.

Wright had the competitiveness, he just lacked continuity and confidence.
I don’t think Weid has what it takes.
He will be far better off when he has 2MP taking the number one defender.
Be interesting to see how he plays if our number 2 kpf starts to get a run on draws a better defender
Didn’t have the best of games, he is a lead up forward like Jones.
Not sure about that, early on with us in 2021 it was a major knock.

Correct. He’s the ‘nearly man’. But he can’t quite nail it. He can’t take a contested mark, doesn’t seem to quite create influence and ground level and I don’t think has influence in ruck craft. I think what we see is what we get. However, with Jones a couple of years away physically and fitness wise from emerging as a young tall, we need a bit more experience forward. Even if it’s of limited benefit.
No physical presence for an experienced key forward. His talent suggests he should somehow be better than he is. I guess Melbourne muddled over the same thing for years.
I’d be prioritising Jones’ development at all costs over Weed.

Jones will make it. Assuming he gets passed injury phase and has a couple of good preseasons he’s just about a certainty to be a really good forward. However, you can’t expedite the inevitable time process needed for guys like Jones to build physical size, fitness and play games. He’s 40 games away. In the meantime we just need to muddle through this year, especially with Wright out.

We cannot afford to have one or two non performing forwards in every week. Weideman is new, keep him in. Jones needs to go back to the magoos, get some confidence, then come back.
We have no choice. That’s why we’re possibly a bottom 4 team. With Wright out, Weiderman limited in capacity and Jones being young and not quite ready yet physically or fitness wise, we have to make do. Especially with Stringer unfit. Without Wright we don’t have contested marking forwards at this point, especially with Draper needing to carry the ruck.
