Former #10 Sam Weideman

That’s not an option either I don’t think. We’re better than Hawthorn, probably North Melbourne, Giants & Gold Coast!

Thats a shame, isn’t it :frowning:

We won’t be good enough at being bad to get Harley Reid.

did he ever second ruck at Melbourne?

he’s awful at it. truly a liability when he’s in there

He was awful last night

Dropping pretty simple marks, didn’t compete under the high ball- couldn’t even bring it to ground. Was awful in the ruck

He’s a shocking option as second Ruck. We would have been better putting Langford in there and just defending those stoppages when Draper was off the ground.

No, but Gawn / Jackson didn’t really facilitate that.

I believe it was something he started doing decently at VFL level last year, and it was one of the selling points for getting him over here.

Early signs weren’t particularly good last night, though. Long term he might be able to share that role with 2MP, but up against a legit starting ruck, he looked nowhere near it.

If we gambled on Setterfield and Weidman filling holes for basically free I can handle winning one of those trades.

Having Weidman, Jones and Stewart on the list is bizzare though. 3 key position players who are average and need to play 3rd tall. Not sure we can afford 3 list spots on that type of player. We could really do with one of them being a contested toward.

Even if he is available to us there is no guarantee that we would draft him.

We’re not finishing 18th this year, and we’ll take a KPF/D in the draft because that’s where a lot of the talent is in the top 10.

Weideman has shown himself to be a crap KPF, because like Jones he has no animal in him - and like Jones he’s useless as a ruckman, even as a back-up.

Magoos until he learns to harden up or his contract runs out, whichever happens first.

At least Jones is willing to lead and work up the ground, Weed is reluctant to ever leave the F50. Jones could work well as a third tall, Weed not so much, he is either the main KPF or not at all. He is of li.ited value, as we saw, mostly because he is like Joe Dan, not too thrilled by the prospect of contesting a ball.

People writing him off after one game!

Weideman is new? It’s his eighth season, most of which have been injury free with plenty of opportunities.

He’s played one game with us. That’s new.

New to this club.

He looked really soft last night. Zero presence. Will hold fire but very worrying signs that a 25 year old key forward is capable of that performance.

Two games ?

2 games. 1 decent and 1 poor.
Still a bit early to write him off. If I recall 2MP didn’t set the world on fire his first few games for us (I may be wrong).
