Former #19 Nick Hind

Not vanilla enough

He has been okay at times and done a few good things, but while he is a fast runner, he doesn’t run like Durham with penetration or like Nick Martin with veer.

He is horribly predictable, and ultimately reverts back to the headless chook mode of making really dumb mistakes and generally his handling under pressure is atrocious.

He is not reliable and at his age the boat has sailed.

Maybe Hindy is too much of a resultist.

Playing the kids instead of Hindy?

Yeah he makes mistakes, but he also has a crack and you know what he doesn’t do? He doesn’t go missing when the chips are down, he goes harder. Wish we had a few more with that attitude.

I know we have depth on the wing but maybe that could have been his best position, maybe another club will target him and play him on the wing next year, watch this space.

We have depth on the wing?

Who’s the better small/pressure forward for the next 12 months?
Nowhere else. Locked in as forward pocket for 22 rounds.

Oh, fine. I’ll do a poll.

  • Hind
  • Menzie
  • Guelfi
  • Davey
  • Hobbs
  • El-Hawli
  • Gresham

Minimum one, maximum two.

Actually no, let’s look at what Brad’s has tried to manufacture through that position…
Dursmsa :heavy_check_mark:
Cox :heavy_multiplication_x:
Jones :heavy_multiplication_x:
Martin :heavy_check_mark: when he plays there
Roberts ?

I see Hind is playing the wing in the VFL, hell, maybe we should give him a run on the wing at Afl level.

I’m am surprised that Menzie is at 0%, but I suppose that a negative % isn’t possible!

I can’t vote El-Hawli, cos I haven’t seen him play the role. But hopefully he can. I don’t have any hope for the rest of them.
Also, Kako.
If we have the 2 of them, it couldn’t possibly be worse, and fingers crossed it’s a lot better.

Good.

As usual … Nick Hind the whipping boy and left out again when he’s been playing well in the VFL AND we need his run and gun off HB. Even a late in as sub would be a more logical change for this 2024 do or die clash.

Annoyed he’s being frozen out right when those ahead of him are soiling the bed. Like Heppell… and Ridley is out too so we need an agile running back alongside Redders to counter fast.

Hes finished at Essendon.

Hopefully the rest of the older guys follow.

Might well be on the money…

I don’t think Hind would look great in a team that is down on effort.
Whilst I do agree he shows effort more often than not, he also makes a lot of mistakes.

If he was playing last week, we’d get a replica of the Brisbane game last year. Just take a look at the posts in this thread in May last year. He will try and attempt something (which is great) but when it doesn’t come off, it’ll look foolish.
He usually minimises his errors when the team around him isn’t such a basket case.
That’s from someone who has defended him somewhat more often than not. He’s not a crumbing small forward. He’s more of a run up to the wing, wheel back to goals half forward which is closer to Gresham’s role. He could take Menzie’s spot, but I think it’s fair to prioritise ADJ who has had a longer stint in the VFL waiting for his opportunity.

In my opinion, Hind was at his best this year on the wing. He was surprisingly good getting from pocket to pocket. But it’s tougher to get him into that spot when you’re already pushing Jones out to the wing to get games into Caddy, pushing a resting midfielder out to the wing because we don’t have any spare spots ion our forward line at the same time as giving Cox and Duursma their time on the wing.

It’s pretty clear when Duursma got back from injury that Hind had a lesser role in the team.

Can’t have anyone with pace in this side…

He should just be our sub week in week out
