It was the extensions of already contracted players in 2024 (when Rosa was listed manager) which pushed Draper outside top 10 - and is the reason he is UFA.
This is entirely of our own doing.

You do have to hand it to us… to be so consistent in our ineptitude is really quite an achievement.
If only premierships were handed out for uselessness, ineptitude and mistake-making, we would so far ahead of the field it’s not funny.

If Rosa had structured Caldwell’s contract so that he got paid a little less this year to keep Draper in the top 25%, he would have been RFA.

Whether you’re happy with draper going or not it still remains that a guy who was very open about how much he loved the club was more than happy to walk. Yes he got a bad injury but he wouldn’t have left unless there’s a real problem within the club.
It sucks, but I wouldn’t have wanted us to try matching even if we could. Maybe it would have pushed Brisbane to offer more, maybe not.
I’d expect some of his contracts probably performance/games based (which doesnt count) given all the injuries anyway.

The only way this will be remotely fair would be if Allen compo came back band 2 also but id bet my left nut it doesnt as the afl love dishing out free hits to other clubs,like giving silvagni band 2 aswell

Yeah 100% this. While it’s reportedly around $900k it’s more likely $750k plus triggers to get to $900k so only the $750k will count.
