Good result. Club only has themselves to blame for players wanting out like Draper.
If we want to retain good players, get on with the job of improving the organisation.

Legit question - is it Rosaās call to pump up Draperās contract? Does he have that authority?
EDIT - And if the AFL do whatever tf they want (they do) then does this even make difference?

In isolation it might be okay, but when you are in a position down the bottom of the ladder to extract overs from leaving FAs (ala Allen, McKay, Battle and countless others) - and you completely ā ā ā ā ā it - unacceptable. And another example of the club not being able to get out of its own way.

Yeah the result could have been better. But it wasnāt.
Iām not phased. For me worst case scenario was Draper staying on a big deal so Iām not worried at all by the lack of contract brinkmanship or UFA/RFA shenanigans

Problem is I donāt see anything that makes me think this is happening. Weāve rearranged some deckchairs and thatās about it. Can anyone name a positive thing the club is doing to change?

The issue isnāt Band 1 for Allen or Band 2 for Draper itās the system results in Pick 2 for Allen and Pick 20 for Draper.

Pick 20 is fair worth for him but we needed to manage things like a professional sporting club to get overs to help us get out of this quicksand we are in and we didnāt.

Make sure we use 3 first round early picks wisely
I reckon we still may well end up with 4 early picks
Finally changing up the S&C team I guess.

We must be the most reactive club in the league. It took 20 injured players before the club did anything. We have no assistant coach, no head of development, a president and C.E.O. who have not given us any sort of blueprint for the future and a coach with a perpetual befuddled expression who appears to have next to no relationship with the players and no discernible game plan. Just give us a glimmer of hope Welshy - even one morsel. Rant over (for now).

How the hell we let one of our most important players on and off field go and only end up with pick 20 is horrific.
How can such a big rich club with so many loyal fans continue to be bent over by everyone. AFL, other clubs, other fans just laugh at us and we take it like ā ā ā ā ā ā ā

Incompetence
Internally the club is ā ā ā ā ā ā because their offer definitely if trumped was getting round 1 compo- meaning draper went to brisbane for less than our offer which they expected was more than oursā¦ end of day clubs incompetence also for bumping him out of top 10 earners
