Former #29 - Jake Kelly

That marking contest he backed into in the last quarter today was insane brave.

It wasn’t he didn’t know what was coming. He would have seen exactly what was going to hit him, he was initially running facing it. It’s that he still turned, backed in, and took the sizable hit.

Absolutely crazy brave.

Today he was dreadful, worst Bomber player by a long way.

If he can’t have the ball is in hands at anytime are you implying he shouldn’t be on the field

If so I agree

We are at least 4 players short

We lack pace dare and this type of game plan won’t win a final when the heat is on

I think Kelly would work better as a defensive forward where he can’t really slow us down.

Pretty sure we’ve tried him forward this year with forgettable results.

I think that Jayden could fill in whatever role Kelly is playing at the moment, just need any of our defenders to get and stay fit

petruccelle stopped marking him as an option coming out of d50

I think Kelly would work much better in the VFL

We missed him.

He’s been good to HT. These shutdown roles are his jam. Just don’t use him in transition out of defence, having said that, the way Redman and Ridley are travelling he’s a safer bet than them to hit a target at the minute!

We look better with him. Have never been a fan but he provides something others don’t.

His lockdown work is good but please don’t let him kick the ball and most definitely don’t use him as a link up player

The amount of times he was on the end of a handball chain… Made it look like he was out designated kicker .

Fantastic defensively and tbf used it ok without being too adventurous

Was he on Daicos in the last?

I like this sort of Kelly. Priority#1 is defend and nullify his opponent. I think he was on Hill for most of the game, and he blanketed him (0.1). 9 pressure acts and 0 1v1 losses. Then to attack, but within his limitations (17 disposals, 15 effective.) He was an asset.

Definitely spent some time on him late in the game.

He cops it a lot on here, and I agree he’s got very little in the way of skill. But holy crap he is a good stopper. We are a much better team defensively with him in it.

That’s the guy who runs the most in the chain to give the outlet.

Brad Scott needs to find the balls to tell him that he’s a horses for courses player only. If there is a match up defensively, he plays because he is a good shutdown player. But if ever he gets that tingling to play him on a wing he needs to be dropped immediatley.

If Scott plays him on the wing, Scott needs to be dropped.

Maybe the reflexive “drop Kelly he’s not the future” mob might quieten down for a week or so.
