Former #31 Dustin Fletcher

Seems to read the ball well, agile, endurance is apparent. The kind of guy we should be able to build a back line around going forward.

Vegemite on toast.

If Fletch can rock up 15 games next season I see no reason why he can't go round for one more to reach 400

Great to see Fletch re-signing - and with a big smile on his face.
Sorry, don't know how to copy pics from twitter but here's the link. Well worth a look.

Thanks Zim, I'm not up with all this modern technology.

Am surprised he's giving it another crack, was starting to struggle and look a step behind the pace late in the season IMO, I guess he's not the type of guy to quit.

The pace thing was more a result of injury restricting him than age.

Still a very good player, but may need a week of here and there for general soreness. Just seems to take a little longer to get up after hitting a contest or copping a hit. If we manage him well, and he knows his body well, we will still get some very good games from him.

If he plays long enough, maybe he’ll be the first father-son combo to actually play together

Matthew on phone; Yeah, disco, we got Fletcher to sign on for next year. Tell everyone that he's not on the table as usual.

Fletcher to camera person; He's talking about me :)

Imagine how excited you'd be going to a game next year knowing that, via time travel, Bill Hutchinson was gonna be lining up for us again, just for one game.

Or Mark Harvey. Or Simon Madden. Or Gavin Wanganeen.

We should feel the same way before every game Fletch plays from now on. Not cos it might be his last, but cos he's a f****** bona fide legend of this football club. I know we've all been doing it a bit, and the cheer he gets with his first possession each game is always ■■■■■■ heartwarming.

But I feel as if we started saying goodbye in about 2009, and the stretched out goodbye has kinda become a thing itself, obscuring any real discussion/appreciation of his greatness. He is still an excellent footballer. But he is also a massive part of this club's history - and such an example of "Essendon people" who make this club so easy to love - and we are so lucky to have seen his feats so close, for so long, and there's more to come.

*and ok, so Hutchinson is probably another level above Fletch, but you have to pay overs when bringing someone across from a different dimension

Funny! Great to see EFC still has a sense of humour.

I want him to play every game. I want the kids coming along to have to be better than him, not just have a run when he needs a rest..  He can continue to give them something to aim for, and it then makes the whole back line more potent going forward.

The bloke loves playing the game but there’s little doubt he’s hanging on for that last hooray. Unless he does the highly unlikely and plays 18+ games where his form is outstanding 2014 will be his last year … I’m going to savour each and every game he plays and here’s hoping he gets sent off the best way possible

(seriously though, I think that's the Exhibition Building? opening of the first parliament?)

Love Fletch.

Always.

Three more years.

Yes, formation of Federation in 1901 I think.

Interesting to note two other players taken in the same draft as Fletcher the Younger have since retired, Moses due to water on the knee and Abraham (no relation to Winston).

The Rising Star Nominees from Fletch's year is elite. Mostly. Brownlows, premierships, B+F's, Coaches.

Sir, you are a true legend, and I salute you.

And who is Brodie Atkinson?
