Former #36 Jayden Davey

One reason why you’d play JD ahead of Menzie is that he’s not Jye Menzie. We’ve seen enough of him to know he’s not up to it. Davey may not be ready in an ideal world, but opportunity comes sometimes when you least expect it. He has some pace working back to goal which might be an asset. Clearly our season is still alive so I don’t expect any radical selection moves, but this team needs a shake-up.

But fortunately Davo, you have no idea about footy and are more suited to polo.

Have you watched much footy of the Daveys? Its a deficiency they need to improve on.

What do you know about footy? Seriously? Not much either tbh. None of us do.

Both the Daveys will be worth persisting with. You have to remember their dad was a later age recruit. Having them build in the VFL for another two years will be worth it in the end.

I liked the guy but it wasn’t like their dad was a super star. He was in and out of the side a fare bit. ADJ uncle on the other hand is the one I hope he emulates.

Hoping to see a debut this week? Or even ADJ back into the line up this week

I’m not sure if their father missed many games at all for non-injury reasons. What you’re saying isn’t my memory at all.

Well I remember going to VFL matches and watching him play. I guess he could have been coming back from injury but I don’t think he was.

He struggled to secure a spot in the side while Hird was coach.

That’s wasn’t injury related.

Hird played the most vanilla players.

Davey got his 100 games in 7 seasons, which included an ACL and at least two broken collarbones. He can’t have played that many VFL games.

I don’t know.

Hird backed in Leroy Jetta in a big way.

He was doing individual training sessions with him in his spare time.

I guarantee he finished the 2013 season in the VFL.

He was stranded on 99 games for 8-9 games left of the season.

I remember because I was watching Alwyn and Jaiden playing kick to kick at half time when they were 9 years old ……. Couldn’t believe that Hird was taking the risk, to leave him on 99 games.

remember when we didn’t need to draft Cyril Rioli as we had Davey, Jetta and Lovett already.

Missing some AFL games in your last season hardly equates to being:

For most of his career I’d have said he was in the side when uninjured.

EFC wouldve ‘developed’ Cyril into a solid 80 game player with zero final wins…

Alwyn got broken by Rooke. Was never the same after that.
