I hope youā€™re right. His vids reveal a natural defender looking bloke with balance, a good grab and sensible distribution. As you say he could be a real gem.

Is it just his face? Or will he be a VFL king, AFL pauper? Me not understanding the Hardingham comparisons that is

I knew someone would make that comment.

Has a good clunk on him, neat disposal and looks brave.

Looks like he has some potential.

To my eye he judges it better in flight than Hardingham and doesnā€™t rely entirely on an absolutely disgusting vertical. More Hibberd in style without the attacking flair.

I liked kyle hardingham.

So did I. I donā€™t think we ever used him particularly well, threw him around too much and didnā€™t develop him well.

He was 26 or 27 by the time we cut him and he was still a horrendous kick. Not sure moving backline to forward had any impact on that.

I just loved when teams persistently kicked long down the wing to contests including Hardingham and Fletcherā€¦ and BANG, out of bounds it goes.

Yeah he was truly amazing overhead. If he was even a passably OK kick, he wouldā€™ve played 100 for sure.

Was a weirdly good set shot, but any other kickā€¦

Time to give Monty his chance in the Ones. Do it, Bradley ! DO IT !

Agree but who drops out ?

Feels like it is one of those now or never junctures?

We need defensive coverage until Reid is ready. So either him or Baldwin really.

As a replacement for whom? There is no way Montgomerie is a key position defender so he would be replacing probably Ridley.

Nah heā€™d be replacing one of Mass or Hind.

The back 7 would be:

Zerk
Ridley
Montgomerie/Baldwin
Kelly
Redman
McGrath
7th defender one of: Hepp, Hind, Mass

I think he would be replacing either Hind/Massimo
who replaced Laverde.

But more likely Heppell replaces one of those guys IMO.

But heā€™s a tallish intercept marking defender. Heā€™s nothing like Mass or Hind.

Yeah but we didnā€™t replace Laverde with a like for like last week, which we should have. As such, we were smaller than usual down back.

Bringing Montgomerie or Baldwin in for one of the smalls only resets the kind of structure we had from round 1 right through until when Lav went off after half time on ANZAC Day.
