He’s an interesting one. There were many around here pumping him up as the greatest talent since John Coleman. I’m trying to figure out what was fact, what was fiction?
His form slide seemed to coincide with dealing with stronger opposition focus in games. He coincidentally seemed to become outwardly frustrated and his body language seemed ordinary to me.
However, for all his natural aggression and spirit which we love, what do we have in Voss? Is he a strong enough mark? Is his goal kicking accuracy a drawback? Does he have sufficient game sense or aerobic capacity?
What’s his future and what can he realistically become?
I’ve been calling for him to come in, simply because I believe he can play a role…… especially when we have been screaming out for Weideman and Stringer to play a role (as a minimum) and show some hunger for the contest.
I think the hype around Voss brings out both toxic side of supporters. Either “Next superstar” or “Sh*t, needs to be delisted ASAP”.
I don’t think either opinion is correct.
He’s got talent, but needs to put it together. Another pre-season will do him wonders imo.
when you playing Wright, Phillips, Langford there plus a statue of Stringer not a lot of defence applied.
VOSS applies more defensive pressure than all of Phillips, Weideman, Stringer, Jones.
Tex is probably the best at VFL level in harrssing opponents and tackling along with Walla.
Its not like we don’t have options to address keeping the ball in the forwardline.
Scotts answer - we will play Tsatas in the forwardline.
Stephen Milne was cheeky little Rat playing Essendon Reserves in 2000. Really hard to get into the main squad, so he never was really . St Kilda picked him up in the 2000 Rookie Draft, and the rest is history. Not sure about the stories that Sheedy didn’t like him, as the young Milne was a likable kid, and he did show erratic ability.
The rest is history, 275 games, over 500 goals and will go down as one of the best small forwards ever to play.
His best Mate at the Bombers was Rama, and there was the cute story that in 1999, Rama would walk past the Bomber Recruiters and yell out Milnes name. If it wasnt for that spud Peter Jackson screwing up the salary cap, Milne would have been recruited in 2000. Milne played a great game in the Reserves Grand Final win vs Saints in 1999, and Saints took him in the Rookie Draft.
Tudor shouldn’t be at the club next year at all. He can take Josh Mahoney with him .I read those comments. It’s hard to lead up at the ball when it isn’t coming down and your midfield and defence are getting smashed. He was hard on a few. Tsatsas had a lot of turnovers last week and his kicking is still an issue .
Even if Voss kicked 8 I’m sure they wouldn’t pick him. The kid may make a few mistakes but we have no one in the seniors who are prepared to crash packs like this kid. Play him as the 3rd tall. He is defensively good. We have nothing to lose. Kelly playing forward was a joke
Voss’s drop off in form could correlate with not being selected. It’s like working your arse off at work and not getting a pay rise, then finding out your colleagues that haven’t worked as hard got one. It’s basically demotivating.
I know you get a kick out of trolling Bacchus but it’s not that difficult if you have a set of eyes to see what he wrote refers to how Bacchus perceived him at 18 or 19 when he played for our reserves. Years before any of what you’re referring to happened. Pretty disingenuous.
