It’s a real head scratcher
Don’t take my post as a knock on May, it’s not.
He definitely looks like he could be something. I hope he can.
I’ve just seen a bunch of people stating that he’s suddenly better/more talented than Voss, despite their respective performances to date not backing that up (and the fact most of us probably hadn’t even heard of him until a couple of weeks ago).
It’s possible that they’re both just not any good.
Pat seemed to go well today but let’s see if actually has a career vs being someone who plays 20/30/40 games or kicks a few on a few occasions.
Really happy for him. Brad never gave him a go, I’m goad he has gone to a club that has played him and given him a shot
But it says AVERAGE.
So the AFL code monkeys screwed up, again?
But can Voss play WING?
And social media.
He’s no Liam McMahon!
The player rating is something like a rolling average over the most recent two seasons, with the most recent 20 games played weighted more (ish, I can’t be bothered finding the specifics), so someone who has played more games in the most recent two seasons will have a higher rating than a similar quality player who’s played fewer games.
I feel like the aim of it is to put enough mathy sounding things in it that people assume it must mean something.
(If you go look at the AFL stats site, the rating doesn’t change if you switch between total and average)
People gotta let go
Can jones?
kinda. On the wing He’ll take a great mark and then bomb it into the fwd 50 for a nice, quick opposition rebound. So i guess hes halfway there…
Hoping Tstatas has the same success/reward next year at his new club like mass and Voss
This bloke couldn’t get a game for us because Brad prioritised Weideman over him, just let that sink in. Tells you all you need to know about Brad
Posts from months ago said he likes a beer or 6, who doesn’t?. Might have seen the error of his ways and put his head down. Happy for the fella if he has.
There’s also the possibility he’s worked on his game because he was cut by Essendon and is an improved player.
Time will tell whether he makes it or not, but at least Freo are giving him a shot. It makes no sense to me that we wouldn’t have given him at least one game, or better yet, a couple full games in a row. You can never fully know what you have until you try. I’m baffled as to why Scott wouldn’t try everyone that looks even somewhat close given where we are at. He should have brought that mentality when he first started to try and get more out of the current list or whatever crap was pushed on us when Scott was hired.
So we have Massimo, Voss, and soon to be Tsatas. All young guys that Scott failed to give a decent shot to and in Voss’ case gave no shot at all. At the same time he’s given other players an extraordinary amount of opportunities, none of who have shown enough justification for using up all the available opportunities (eg Weideman, Jones, Menzie).
All players on our list should rightfully know that if they show enough in the 2s then they’ll get a fair shot.
And hopefully Scott took some “learnings” from Thursday night, playing kids does not mean we can’t win.
I don’t think he specifically “improved due to being cut”, but it’s clear he’s now in an environment that has alot of faith in him, which would no doubt help.
He wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire prior to his suspension, but it’s not surprising they brought him straight back in.
Ultimately, we probably chose to extend Hunter over keeping Voss. That I can understand. Hunter’s early season WAFL form was a little taste of what might have been if he hadn’t done the knee with us.
If we’d signed both of them, it likely means we miss out on Vigo who’s already showing so much promise.
It’s a weird one. I think it was a mistake not to give him a few games. I think he deserved an extension.
But I’m not convinced it didn’t work out better for us in the end.
Still fun watching him play for Freo.
I’m baffled you’re baffled.
This is Brad Scott, the same moron who kept playing Spud Firrito year after year, well past his used by date.
there was always whispers about him while at the club, cos he was the poster boy apparently for not living the afl lifestyle (yet would label stringer a power athelete/forward)
I’d legit like to know what the club and scott value in terms on how the pick and choose how to develop the talent on the list.
Even if voss was a loose cannon off the field, there were patches that his form warranted selection, yet wasn’t picked.
Maybe, just maybe if you showed the kid he was worth taking a risk on, that he you know might turn around any perceived short comings off the field.
instead he, like a few others at the club since brads arrival know they aren’t valued nor really wanted, so there’s incentive to improve at this club, beyond what they are, as most will generally know they can at least get an oppotunity somewhere else, where they potentially could and would be valued.
Just bad luck to be stuck behind efc legend Sam Wiedeman I guess
