And by moving to Fremantle might have been removed from his ■■■■ head mates. That would’ve helped a lot.
You’ve misinterpreted my post, perhaps that’s my fault though. I’m not arguing for or against Daniher’s professionalism. I’m highlighting the irony that there’s always a narrative that doesn’t involve the club being a point of blame.
Have you seen the way Essendon kicks into its forward line? It would appear not.
The mental gymnastics people are performing to justify his axing is hilarious
who does he replace lol? Our forward line is made up of mainly underperforming rejects, take your pick
I’d love him playing for us. That broken tackle to set up a goal is the sort of stuff I love. But I think you have to acknowledge there must of been some stuff going on behind the scenes for us to let him go. It is a shame Voss or the club couldn’t work through the problems but good clubs never let the tail wag the dog.
Anyway hopefully it works out for both parties long term. Sometimes when you lose you win.
Are there any links to Voss misbehaving? Or have people made this up, or at least made it out to be way worse than it was?
Yes, I’m looking for all those club imposed suspensions that something as bad as he had done would warrant
Only what’s been posted on here, some in the know posters say it’s overblown. Oh and there is an article that’s been posted a few times where Voss says he should of been more professional or something like that.
Slightly amusing with less games played that Peter Wright pretty much has the same goal avg per game as Voss in 2025 and he plays 30% ruck. Yet Wright gets knocked a lot on here.
Wright is the most unfairly judged Essendon player. It’s very strange
I see no reason to complain about 2MP. When you consider the cost we paid, he’s been a bargain.
Perhaps it’s a part of the pick 8 in the draft versus a free hit as a rookie. Wright has had a decent year apart from his goal kicking accuracy falling off. He’s not damaging in the ruck but he’s been serviceable and we’d have struggled a lot more without him. Least he can get on the park
Weight is a giant who struggles to take contested marks. Also is the most passive big man we have had since laycock
He has also played 150 games, 28 years old and is on a long term deal
So yes, he should be held to higher standards than Voss
We didn’t pay that though?
We got Wright for nothing
People love big burly guys. Which Voss is, and Wright definitely isn’t.
Only 5 players in the league average more than a goal and 15 ruck contests a game. Thilthorpe, Neale, Wright, Riccardi and McStay.
Of them, 2MP is:
- 3rd for goals per game (noting that all others play for top 6 teams)
- 2nd for ruck contests a game (23 - most others attend around 16)
- 1st for hit out win % (47%, with only one other above 27%)
Simply put for his role, he is one of the best in the league
But he wouldn’t be considered a first or full time ruck would he? So wouldn’t that make that comparison obsolete? What is the stat for his % of time played as ruck?
PS sorry misread your post, you did clarify. Thanks. That stat stacks up
Voss doesn’t take contested marks. Need a better angle than that.
marks in general avg
Wright 4.6
Voss 3.2
Yep fair call. I think he’s played stronger game this year for what it’s worth. I wouldn’t be moving him on
This is his 5th season with us.
3 of those seasons he lead the club for contested marks (average per game.) This year he is second for ‘per game,’ or, first by a LONG way if you look at totals.
He doesn’t struggle, he just isn’t Tom Hawkins.
I mean one of them is theoretically the #1 forward for a side, and the other is the #3. Not having a go at Wright, but you can see why some might be judged differently.
