Former #39 Patrick Voss - false messiah

The right answer is Bryan IMO.

Voss’ time will come. (Or maybe it won’t).

VOSS Is the answer for Weideman /+Stringer replacement
Bryan should keep his place regardless.
VOSS has had plenty of matches with 5+ marks, (PB 8 but lots of 5,6,7 games) but yeh its not his bread and butter,

His Bread and butter is aggression at the footy, creating a contest in the air and when the ball hits the deck. laying tackles on players in his vicinity. He is also a great user of the footy with great delivery, Jorgenson quite often the beneficiary of VOSS’s work. Regulary competes against more than one defender.
And has been taking forward ruck contests.

He is good at holding his position in marking contests and partly why he can mark a few on his chest., He has lots of courage and regualry flys for ball without regard for contact on whats coming the other way.

Just tell him to go out there and be a ■■■■.

Because that is what we are lacking.

Crash packs, tackle hard, lay shepherds and that is the baseline for keeping your spot. Not a lot would have to go right to match and exceed however many marks and goals that Weed is providing but one thing’s for sure is that it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to play with more presence and ■■■■ than Weed does.

If Voss can contribute a goal and bring the ball to ground he will already be providing more than Weid

yep all the things we blame about weid - soft, lack of body contact, basically playing scared afraid to crash a pack.
Voss will be the opposite, yeh he might drop a mark, but he wont have a cry he will be in there fighting for the footy.

VOSS kicked a crucial goal when the game was on the line on the weekend, and he is a good kick for goal on the run.

And if Doggies try and rough up Nic Martin, VOSS would be first in.

He would almost add the youthful exuberance that we are missing from Draper being out.

This team needs a reasonable dose of toxic masculinity. Too many choir boys. GET VOSS THE ■■■■ IN!!!

Any chance we can get the Thread title changed to Patrick VOSS

He does a lot of damage reacting first once the ball hits the deck. That or being in front when it turns over and getting on the lead
. I don’t agree that he’s creating much of a contest in the air.

If I were to bring Voss in, it’d be for Stringer, who’s also pretty mediocre in the air but creates in other ways.
Not Weid.

Half agree.

not so much draper, just the pairing

He stays fit.

That’s more that can be said for the majority of our Key position talent, who just aren’t durable at all.

I like Voss but in my opinion and this could be wrong I don’t see him as a true KPP hes a third tall langford/stringer style.
Hunter is probably our best KPF talent coming through followed by Jones but neither can stay on the park long enough to put pressure on selection

Jones, hunter and Reid are all broken and might be ok after they get full a full preseason.

Hunter has played 1 game. no certainty he will be kept on, likely but. Watch Jones at the VFL and he still plays like a HFF not a true KPP.

Hunter had 1 poor game and 1 good game, not a lot of sample size. He has height though and potentially could play the ruck/forward role which we were hoping from Weideman. Really a long term project.

If we pick Voss now, which I’m in favour of, we haven’t exactly picked him when he’s been shooting the lights out in the VFL. Honestly he should’ve been picked Round 1 ahead of Jones, who had an interrupted pre-season and was in terrible form to boot. Voss showed more in a half in a practice match than Jones has since the end of the 2021 season. He may not be pure KPP size but he’s strong and will have a dip. Which is more than can be said for Weid, who hasn’t scored a goal in 7 games and just 2 in his past 10.

If there is anything remotely approaching selection integrity at EFC Weid must be dropped for tomorrow night. If he isn’t it’s beyond a joke.
