Former #40 Tex Wanganeen

We do realise that where players are named on a team sheet matters very little right?
Especially at VFL level.

I don’t think a mid-year position change works well with younger developing players unless they’ve had a solid few weeks (preferably a month) of training in that position.

He may be playing in the backline to teach him how much running he should be putting in as a small forward.

Me too. I thought I was gunna read all about game day leather poisoning. That can be serious ya know?

Have him ahead of the Davey boys - there is a genuine player there.

He had some really good moments in the VFL, a play on the wing where he tapped it to himeslf a few times under pressure, got it, handballed it to himself, then another tap then a kick with some agility was awesome. Then the running goal from 55m

If he can get a half decent run at it he will be a player

Wasn’t that jayden davey that play? I might be wrong though i only saw the second half.

We’ve been saying that for 3 years. He’s got the rest of this season to show it. Time is running out

He’ll be our AFL wildcard come finals time.

That kicking action, so much of his old man…

I thought it was both Tex to Jayden.

Doesnt make it any less true, in that time he has not gotten a half decent run has he?

You’re right, he hasn’t. But I wonder how much of that is down to bad luck and how much is down to simply not working hard enough to get fit.
Each time when he’s got even a half decent run with injury, the thing that has held him back has been his fitness.
If it’s all just been bad luck, then maybe the club will give him another year.

He played half a game in midfield last year and was excellent. But wasn’t fit enough to play the whole game there and didn’t play midfield again from memory and I’m pretty sure he played another 3 or 4 games after that before inevitably getting injured again

Flip side is his injury tends to be caused by over work, so intense training might be the problem.

Havent watched much VFL but is he doing ok at HB? If so there still might be hope he makes it

I’m not trying to say he should get years for it to happen, just was saying there is a player there if he can stay on the park long enough to prove it

The fact he can actually kick 50 metres on the run is huge for a small forward

Talent and skill are there he just needs to stay fit

Would like to see him as well as J Davey rotated in for a few games at some point just to see what they’ve got at senior level

I think Tex has more upside than Davey JNR tbh

He can play.

Have no doubt with a good run at it, his fitness will build and he can impact later in the season.
