Former #40 Tex Wanganeen

Looks good down at halfback would love to see him get another year with the possibilities of Bryan/Shiel requesting trades at the years end we may not have to delist him

We have to take at least 3 in the draft, and we’re planning to be active in the trade period, according to Barham, plus we have done well lately with SSP’s, so you’d think we’ll bring in 5+ players. Last year, we traded 4 in, and picked up 4 in the draft.

So we need to delist or trade 5-8 players. There are probably a few obvious candidates before Tex, and perhaps one or two of our players will want a trade elsewhere, though there don’t seem to be too many trying to get out lately.

Gavin was my favourite player. I really hope Tex gets a chance, and makes the most of it. But it’s going to be hard for him to keep himself above the 5-8 players that we’ll need to turn over at the end of the year.

Weideman was contracted.

We are in the window where a new coach has got his head around the list and starts orchestrating delistings and trades to shape the team into what his game plan requires. It’s generally a period of ruthless calls rather than status quo.

Delist and give Heppell another year.

If Bryan goes, we need another ruckman. Doesn’t help Wanganeen’s chances of retention in any way.

Goneski, been better at half back, but still not enough to save him off the back of 3 nothing years imo.

We’re going to delist him and he’ll dominate for Port, aren’t we? (Don’t really believe that but just getting ahead of the posts at the end of the year).

Anyone who thinks Tex will get another year on the list is absolutely delusional. it will be a miracle if he gets another go.

Kid has been injured for most of those 3 years. We are carrying 3 blokes who have all had two knee recos. Baldwin, J Davey and Hunter would be obvious delistings before Tex

Add to that Weed, Shiel. Menzies

Hind isn’t a lock in

Lual won’t make it

Then possibly Heppell, Goldy retire

Tsatsas may want a trade

Ditto bryan

We may bring in Ainsworth and Zurhaar

Everyone said Jones would be gone at end of the year. Look what an injury free run does

Absolutely no chance j davey gets cut before tex.

If he consolidates himself at HB and Roberts does the same on the wing, then I can see the club being happy with his progress to mature as a player, and also see him as someone who brings speed off HB. We dont really have much speed coming off HB at present, and this is a need he addresses.

Are you related to tex?

So was James Stewart. We had heaps of cap space, an abundance of tall defenders, and tight list spots.
We could have gotten rid of a list clogger, opened up a list spot, and help balanced the list better. Two birds one stone.

Hunter, tex, weid are the 3 obvious for mine, the first 2 were late picks anyway, you can’t keep them on the list too long with them showing pretty much nothing (whether injuries or not). I also think brad wouldn’t have been happy with tex ballooning out during his recovery, it shows a lack of professionalism through a poor diet when injured.

Not sure why guys with 2 knee reco’s are considered more risky than a guy who has had 3 foot injuries in 4 years?

It’s unfortunate for Tex but his spot is in danger based on list spots. He has 6 games to save his career (he needs to kill it in the VFL)
